I suffered for 3 yrs. and saw every type of Dr. My pain kept changing and moving...first I experienced side pain. Then my feet and toes tingled and were cold. Then my stomach hurt. Both my bowels and bladder were affected. My mobility went downhill quickly and I needed a walker /cane.
The pain grew more severe. I had 2 lumbar MRI's. I believed an MRI
was the entire back. Please, if you are suffering get a THORACIC
MRI. I HAD A TUMOUR ON MY SPINE IN THE T9 ZONE. it was
compressing the spine and causing terrible pain. This is often missed
by Dr's. Insist on MRI's of the entire back....lumbar area is not enough!

Mine was caused by gout and arthritis. Once the uric acid leval in my blood was reduced the nerves In my feet started to repair themselves. It may take years or never to have the nerves to be normal. Now I dealing with uric acid bone damage, arthritis and some nerve pain.

Was your nerve pain impacting your mobility as well? I had it in my feet but in my legs there was pulling and tightening and numbness.
I could barely walk. I didn't know uric acid could be a culprit. I also have
osteo arthritis.

Yes it was I was in the hospital for 8 days because I could not walk and the pain was so bad. I now can only stand for about 20 minutes or walk maybe 50 yards before the pain gets extremely bad.i am basically homebound right now. I can drive places but can't go in unless the distant I need to go is short
I have terrible neuropathetic pain in both feet, tightness in my calves, horrible arthritis pain in my fingers, hands, and wrists, as well as horrible ankle pain. I am taking Gabapentin and it really helps. Two years ago I had surgery on my foot to resolve hammer toe and alignment of the other toes - it was all causing tremendous pain. 6 months after the first surgery my Dr announced that the surgery didn't work as he anticipated so I underwent a 2nd surgery. In the 2nd surgery he fused all my toes and placed a type of metal covering over the bone in my big toe reaching from the tip of the toe to the middle of my foot. One year ago I saw another doctor because of the pain still in that foot. He operated and removed the 2nd toe stating that would relieve the pain. It's been a year now since the amputation and I am still suffering extreme pain where the amputation took place. Shouldn't the pain be less today?

My pain is post shingles PHN after 4 years and still with it. On gabapentin and sorry I am unable to help or make any suggestions for you.

What did you take to reduce Uris acid level. Also did you cut out any foods or drinks. Ie Wine I have noticed that I suffer more if I have a glass of wine.
It has effected my mobility considerably. I have been house bound for almost a year now, just going out when it is absolutely nessary.
It's uric acid and I was prescribed Allopurinol and it brought the uric acid level Down and reduced some of the pain. I don't drink alcohol and just eat regular food.

So sorry to hear of your experiences ..up until recently I thought m y groin and hip pain might be due to a bony impingement after an orthopaedic surgeon saw a bony bump at the top of my femur.. Xrays would appear to exclude this but I'm still getting the burning pain in the front of my upper thigh/groin area ..one of the GPs at my surgery offered me amitryptilline for what she believes could be neuropathic pain but I'm reluctant to use it when I heard about the side effects. She hasn't ordered an MRI but has referred me to the musculoskeletal interface service for further investigation and therapy.
