Never had heartburn, now I have it every meal, every drink, every day, what happened?

On Sept 1, I was drinking beers and getting a little tipsy and when I awoke the next day I was sick as heck. It was not a normal hangover because I could barely get out of bed and had pains like a stomach flu or something. I felt thirsty and was probably dehydrated so I tried to drink water and within 5 minutes I vomited all of it. This went on for 6 hours, all liquids I tried to drink came back up within 5 minutes and my stomach acids had burned up my throat and tonsils to the point where I could not eat or drink anything and I ended up in the emergency room. They re-hydrated me with an IV and gave me medicine and after 6 hours they sent me home and I was felling better. Until I tried to eat or drink anything. Instant, painful heartburn, almost enough to make me double over in pain and it lasts between 30 sec and 3 minutes before it fades, and many nights I feel a dull heartburn all night that makes it hard to sleep. Its been like this for 8 days now, and I have a doctors appointment but that takes time as this is not an emergency. To eat a meal I have to take 3 Ibuprofen, wait an hour for them to kick in, then I can eat and drink. Clearly something happened in my gut during that sickness and I am guessing that all that vomiting caused something in my gut to get twisted, blocked, burnt by stomach acids or something because the only heartburn I have ever experienced is like once a year or so when I eat something too spicy. The clues: 1. Tums/Rolaids does nothing 2. I have recently discovered that drinking anything carbonated that causes me to burp helps a TON, heck one burp usually wipes away all the pain instantly. (took me a while to discover this because I hate carbonation in anything except beer, ya I know I'm weird) If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them. Thanks for your help. Sean G

considered gastrtitis maybe? had similar to yourself, carbonated drinks increase stomach acid so maybe acid reflux? could be a number of things so just keep on your doctor for answers

Do not take ibuprofen it makes stomach problems worse read the label. Take some nexium to help with your stomach acid and rennies before you eat, if you want painkillers stick to paracetamol. It sounds like you have oesophagitis and gastritis. Avoid fatty foods and anything acidic until you see your doctor. Look up low acid diet.

Ask your doctor about gastritis. What are your bowel movements like?
