New here- switching from 40mg of Prozac to escitalopram

Hi all. New here and probably like many going through ■■■■.

Been on Prozac for 11 weeks and am switching (back) to escitalopram.

Has anyone done this before... did you taper or take at the same time?

My dr told me to stop tomorrow (Prozac) and I will get script from her on Tuesday for lexapro.

Anything I should expect or know?  I’m so worried.  Frustrated needing to change and I haven’t found success.

Thanks in advance. Hope everyone is having a good day xx

Mell... So sorry u r having such a bad time.. But no all I can do is encourage u to do your research and post on here because I'm sure someone can point u in the right direction.. This is just my 4 th week on Lexapro and it's becoming easier so continue doing your research and someone will b able to help u.. Take Care and continue posting...😊

Hi Mel,

Did you have any trouble with side effects on going on Escitalapam before because this will probably your best indicator as to how you'll go this time.

I switched, cold turkey from 7 years on Mirtazapine to Lexapro and had a lot of trouble.. have been on 7.5 mg of Lexapro fora year now and still can't get it any higher..it does my head in...so I think I would have had trouble anyway..of course, being on Mirtazapine for 7 years and suddenly stopping was the worst thing the doctor could have done too.

If you haven't been on Prozac for long and you found Lexapro ok then you will probably be fine.

There is good info on line with AD swapping/ stopping and tapering called the "ASHTONS MANUAL"...you can google it if you need advice on tapering..

Hope this helps xo

I switched cold turkey from Prozac straight onto escitalopram, no problems as Prozac stays in your system for so long. Good luck!
