Well, the time has come, it is 03.11 here in Spain, and cannot sleep.I am hoping and praying that all will go well, and I can get back to living a life again!
I really must stop reading about all the problems people have to endure, at least fir tonight !
Fingers crossed big time! lol
Best of luck to you in the morning. I hope all goes well for you. Follow all your instructions, and be patient with your recovery. You’ll be glad you did it in a few months. Prayers for best outcome for you. Deborah
hi. good luck .
I’m 18 days post OP today and I’ve not looked back since the OP. ok I know in the hospital I had very strong painkillers but the pain I felt immediately post OP was nothing compared to the continued pain I’d felt pre OP. I’d been telling everyone for ages it was just sore but I knew post OP it had been more than dam sore because what I was now feeling was soreness. my hospital were brilliant they were constantly checking if you had any pain and giving out top up medicines if anyone needed it - I didn’t fortunately. at home I’ve gradually been able to reduce first my codeine dose to half and now I just take 15mg at night . the rest of the time its paracetamol and ibuprofen and I’m fine you get the odd twinge but I find walking / moving soon sorts that out.
but anyway good luck. look forward to a new you. you have remember forums like this are brilliant but you have to also sift thro to get the information that’s right for you. keep us updated x julie
All the best Helen.
Be patient with the recovery period but enjoy your new hip and a new chapter in this thing called “Life”.
Good luck Helen, i’m 7 weeks post op & almost back to normal, do everything they tell you & you will be just fine!
Chrissy
BEST OF LUCK!!! I am recovering from two hip replacements, everyone is different mine seems slow due to other issues but others are fast just listen to what doctor tells you and dont rush things
Hope it went well Helen, bet now you are wondering what all the fuss was about. I know a few people who have had hip op’s in Spain, all went perfect. Where are you in Spain?
Hope that it all went well and best wishes for a speedy recovery. As everyone says, be patient with the recovery - that was the bit that drove me nuts, but it was so worth it. It’s been a real game changer for me, I’ve got my life back and those years of 24/7 pain are a distant memory. Good Luck!
Jane

HI Helen thinking and praying for you! I hope the operation was successful X
hi. so pleased you feel so well. I was the same
couldn’t believe I could stand on my bad leg and it feel ok. be careful how much exercises you do at the start - I did abt 10 foot pointing in bed on day 3 and God did I have bad muscle pain till the next round of drugs. the physio told me the next morning I should start doing abt 3 at a time lol. depends how bad or you’ve not been using your muscles. I’m now day 19 and on 3x 10 exercises per day. intend my end of week increasing it to 4x and then 1 week after if I’m ok 5x which is the max advised by my hosp . but that ll vary.
but anyway. good luck. enjoy your new mobility and reduced pain ![]()
Thank you very much Julie…I will certainly remember that.. Would not wish to undo the good that happened yesterday ! ![]()
