New hip started squeeking

I am nearly at the 2  year anniversary of my new hip and over the last few months it has started to make noises.

I thought it was me imagining it at first but now others have started to comment on it.

I will be due my annual check up soon so will mention it then.

Just wondered if anyone else has a sqeeky hip.

Oh and whilst I am here I am starting to get pain in it too but wonder if this is because my up operated hip is starting to slip. On a recent holiday to NYC I was back to using a stick and hubby's arm for support.

I have heard that ceramic implants tend to squeak. Do you know what you had?

My consultant told me that there was a slight risk that with ceramic on ceramic you might get a squeaky hip.

Yes, I still have a squeaky hip 32 months after THR.

Usually when it's hot, and I am bending down for something.  I asked my new surgeon at RNOH Stanmore, and was told it was absolutely nothing to worry about, but if concerned at all, always ask your surgeon.

Ptolemy, I hope that is not true I had ceramic/metal I believe it was a charnley. I would hate to walking around squeaking

Hi Josey

In addition to my hip replacement I broke my elbow about 40 years ago damaging the end of the radius. Nowadays they just cut the end off, but my surgeon gave me a plastic one that squeaked for years. My children were quite young then and both they and their friends thought it a great party trick.

The spacer I had while having my hip revision used to grate when I moved it, but fortunately my replacement is both quiet and pain free.

But If it is hurting I think you should get it checked out.

My first hip is 11 yeasr old now snd sometimes when I move or especially when I stretch out in bed it makes a noise like I'm farting! At first my boyfriend thought I was! Ive had it xrayed but it didnt show anything thank goodness! I dont get any discomfort which is also good! Just can be embarrassing at the wrong time!!

I can live with the squeak but will mention it at my check up.

I am hoping any pain I am getting is referred pain due to my other hip.
