hi everyone,
im looking to connect with people who have complex trauma, I was diagnosed a few years ago and Im still struggling to come to terms with it. I am set up to go through specific treatment but can't seem to get on the right meds for this illness...it's frustrating.
thank you xx
Mine is a straight PTSD diagnosis due to working in war zones and with refugees for many years. I was put on Seroxat, which is recommended and works. Not sure if this may help you.
Sorry to hear that, most of the stuff I google about PTAs or complex trauma is info regarding ex soldiers etc. sounds horrific x
i haven't been able to work for a year and been on 4 different meds, Citalopram, Metrazapine, Trazadone now Venlaflaxine which Im weaning off of. 2 didn't help and 2 gave me really bad restless leg syndrome
I got some info from a friend about the guidelines (her sons girlfriend works for one of the foremost proffesors in this field),as I worked for the UN and as a volunteer. Same as you I hit a brickwall with regard to fact seen as military. In my case my local health authority decided that because put self in that situation it was avoidable and refused to fund treatment. GP good though and has done what they can.
Can message you a copy of what she set me if want it.
That's good your GP is understanding. That would be great if you could x
Will take a few days as been in hospital for a major Gynae op but will do ASAP
That's no problem, thanks anyway.
Hope you get to feeling better soon, nothing like getting home and in your own bed, you will recover quicker.
Take care of yourself xx
Should be with you in about a week, probably less, as been home nearly 10days and is over 2wks since op
Feel free to message me anytime
Big hug

Hi Jessica,
sorry for late reply....I really do feel for your boyfriend and you!!
this illness has literally wrecked parts of my life that I was so proud of. For the past few years I have tried so many meds, treatments, exercise. Sometimes I feel ok but then when anything stressful comes into my space then....bang, Im right there with all the symptoms of flash backs, anxiety, insomnia, agitation, bad dreams, isolation!!!
Im a fighter Jessica and always patted myself on the back for all the things in life I have achieved and sustained but this illness totally beats me,
Im currently waiting for an app to come through to see a Psychologist who specialises in meds for complex trauma as the last few Iv tried don't help, then I have to wean myself off....months pass then years and your still the same.
Im so glad your boyfriend has you to support him as believe me he will be needing it when he has the worst episodes.
take care the both of you xxxxx
Hi -- complex trauma needs a few different approaches: early trauma processing, EMDR, and meds. A lot of people use Zoloft plus Prazosin. Prazosin is a BP lowering drug but for some reason works with the nightmares of PTSD. Good Luck!
