New Member New Hips

Hi everyone - its been great reading peoples experiences on here. I am due to have both hips done this summer (first one on 11th July) and am 42 years of age. I have been putting it off for a number of years but just had to get on with it.

Hope everything goes well for you! I had my first at 45 and had been putting it off for as long as possible. Certainly I didn't regret it. 15 years later and it is still in place and I have just had the other one done!

Hi.  I am 44 and had my left hip done 13 weeks ago.  I hope that all goes well for you and look forward to hearing how you get on.  I found this forum so helpful as the hospital didn't advise me what to expect afterwards - e.g. sleeping, swollen ankles and the aches and pains that appear.  That is not meant to sound negative, more helpful! :-)

Good luck and welcome to this lovely forum SJ, you will find loads of information and ears to listen while you tell us what you've been up to.

Hi SJ

Good luck on the 11th, hope it all goes well for you.

I am 46 and I am 9 weeks post RTHR. Back to the hospital today for another MRI on the left today, I wish they could have looked into both of them at the same time like you.

You will find this forum invaluable pre and post op, make sure you visit it regularly and ask any question you need to.  There will always be someone available with an answer or just a friendly word.

painkillers at 9 weeks  for me tonight too - too much gardening over the last 2 days! Just when I was hoping to cut down too!

good morning SJ .... not only are we friendly, we also have a great sense of humour which puts things in perspective  -

it is true, we do share everything - our woes, concerns and pains but also all the victories and accomplishments, no matter how small... as said: it is not negative and certainly not a competition but like minded, loving and supporting friends ....

take care -

big hug
