Hi guys,

I had gone to the dermatologist today due to my flare up and the cream eumovate had stopped working

I have now been prescribed lotriderm cream as the doctor had told me it's an anti fungal too

Has anyone used this and has itbeen effective?

Sorry I havnt heard of that cream, I have lichen planus it's just a nightmare. I noticed it after treatment for precancerous cells in cervix I have it oral as well, have you ever had a problem with smear test and how old are you, I'm 57 and this thing worries me so much,

And I'm only 17 so I'm quite young and new to this! I've only been to the doctors a few times and they've shrugged my condition off and haven't really done anything other than given me creams and ointments and prescribed new ones when the last one has stopped working

I'm sorry to hear it's oral too!

and I haven't had a smear test but im sure someone else has had one on this forum, anyone ????

Lara, Lichen Sclerosus isn't oral. But some people with LS here also have Lichen Planus, which can be oral, vaginal or any other place.

If you have an annual gynae visit, the pap smear of your cervix is what they're talking about. You're probably too young.

Lara, Do take the time to read the "New to LS page" it is informative and very important.

I would look for a Vulva clinic immediately, as it is important that you have the right care, as this condition is a tricky xxxxxx to deal with!!  Once you are aware of how best to manage, things become easier, but you need to take an active role in your own condition, as it is a well known lament on this site that many doctors are not as informed as they should be when it comes to Lichen Schlerosus, and so by doing this, you are then in a position to challenge suggested courses of treatment and are not just relying on one person's view, which may or may not be the right course of action for you.

Guppy's advice is sound based on a lot of us on this forum who have learnt from each other's trail and error (more so than the multitude of so-called 'specialists&#39 i.e. people who have and continue to 'live through' personal experience and learnt to manage well enough despite amply misinformation and ignorance amongst the medical population.

hey, I'm 18 myself and I have lichen sclerosus too. Try to find witch hazel and 99% aloe vera and apply it to your vulva. It really does help.
