The Sprite has got me well and truly this morning. Back has been feeling a little stiff over the last few days with pain in lower back. This morning however the little devil has replaced my spine with a broom handle. I have no flexibility whatsoever - I would probably make a good guardsman for the palace today. Never had it so that I cannot flex in any direction - even my neck is affected. Any ideas fibro folk - anyone else had this?
Oh dear, Maggers...not a good place to find yourself. Have not had this
personally...yet, but can identify with the way fibro creeps up on various muscles unexpectedly.
I did try out the Epsom salts bath yesterday evening. Firstly, the skin stung like crazy, but before I could remove myself (which is quite a lengthy manouver), it wore off, so I soaked for a bit. Unfortunately the water was a bit hotter than usual, so when I finally stood up...nearly fainted - silly me! BUT, I did sleep with only one visit to the loo...which is unheard of these past few weeks!
Do hope it eases off for you quickly Maggers.
Blessings
Chickabee
Not so hot next time - we don't want to hear that you have had a fall. Glad it gave you a good night. It does help me get a couple of hours too.
Take care.
When my back seizes, I tend to apply endless hot water bottles. I sit with them at my back in a comfy chair. As for neck a little harder to deal with I imagine. Since I brought my memory foam pillow, thanks to your advise, touch wood, my neck has improved. Is getting a gentle therapeutic massage an option for you? Hope it is not a work day?
Good luck
Meg

Yes I can so relate to that Maggers. I went out on Sunday for three hours to do a charity sale to sell some of my craft bits, I had my daughter with me and I sat most of the time.......but OM I paid for it yesterday with a major flare, and today my knees are as stiff as anything I am walking like a robot!
This is the first time since my ( unconfirmed) diagnosis that I have done anything like this, what used to be a walk in the park is now a marathon- I can't believe how much I hurt, after all it wasn't that long or stressful really!
oh Maggers so sorry to hear you're in such discomfort today. Luckily my back doesn't often trouble me, the occasional lower back twinges get me and I end up walking all slanted to one side but generally nothing as bad as yours. My neck and shoulders are killer painful today. Think it's down to stress - yesterday at work was hell, boss was on one of his blaming everyone for his own incompetencies and barking at me like a rabid dog
- he's definitely injurious to my health.
Have a try at some walking chi gung (qi gong) exercises - they're very gentle, need very little movement and probably even in your frozen up condition you could manage one or two of them. Have a look on you tube, there's plenty of examples on there, just pick one you think you could do. The chinese believe that chi gung gets the blocked energy in the body flowing. Not sure as a westerner I completely understand the process but it does relax me wonderfully doing it when I can manage the moves. hope you feel better soon hon xxx
Don't laugh but I am currently using a massage pad bought by my daughter for her horse!!! I shall start neighing soon. It is so large I can wrap my entire torso in it. not working today as it is the last day of my time off (a week) back tomorrow though
P.S. the pad completely clean and free from horsehair!
I know how you feel. We try to keep going on good days then suffer for it afterwards. I am still learning the art of pacing myself.
Doesn't help does it when bosses lose the plot. I have worked for a few in my time. Will have a look on you tube. Thanks. Got to get some movement back as I am working tomorrow.
hi maggers poor you bless you I have constant pain in my lower back of which I just put hot water bottle on. But I havnt had what your experiencing so cant help much with that 1 sorry. sorry Im not much help hun hope the other ladies can come up with some ideas for you. I wouldnt know where to start with this 1. brain foggy today.
take care gentle hugs
Poor you - I hate the brain fog more than anything. Being a control freak I hate to think of myself not making sense but my other half would say I have never made much sense even on a good day! Take care have a quiet gentle day.
Sorry I laughed, 😀, I know when you are in so much pain, it is not a laughing matter but what an image you conjured up. Hope you have a wonderful sleep and work is okay for you.

Meg
sorry couldnt help but laugh I got this picture of you in my head, well its worth trying what ever we can to ease our pain and suffering. I use hot water bottles like meg does Im going to look into a massage pad but 1 for humans not horses hope it soon eases and you have a better day tomorrow
take care gentle hugs
Laugh and the world laughs with you - cry and you cry alone. Laughter is the best medicine afterall.
I quite fancy one of those massage chairs - bet they are expensive though.
I haven't learnt that lesson yet, I still think I can do exacty the same, though I blatently can't!
My hotwater bottles are my best friends - usually at least two in the crook of my back and one on my knees. Although the physio has warned me that I have burned the skin on my back, and should see my GP to revies pain relief! I know I shouldn't use boiling water but I need hot not warm!
Sleep well tonight, gentle hugs x
Poor you Maggers, really feeling for you right now...hope it goes away quickly..you are sooo positive, just live your poetry...it's your turn to be encouraged fom us all.....gentle hugs from over the seas..be blessed..:-)xxx
Thank you Christine. I am thinking out loud here but the recommendation from the consultant to stop the supplements for two weeks before taking them again is probably why I feel so terrible. I will see as soon as I go back on them again. Still in the process of working out what works and what doesn't for me.
Drives you nuts...doesn't it...trial and error all the time...we are such guinea pigs for sure...hoping that the next generation of sufferers will have it a bit better than us..gentle hugs Maggers..:-) xxx
off to work now - no idea how I will do. Having a week off is bad enough going back but coupled with the broom stick spine who knows how long I will last.
