New to Citalopram and Need Advice

any tips or tricks for this medicine? I have had severe anxiety for 10 years (I'm 20) and was prescribed citalopram in the liquid form. I am absolutely terrified to start taking it because I don't want to feel weird or miserable or icky. Any tips or advice that maybe will set my mind at ease? I'm sick of being anxious 24/7 and want to get better but have always had a massive fear of medications

hi

i was the same. i looked it for ages and then took the plunge. it made me feel very dizzy first 2 days. but now its a lot better. my advice is. remember its only a feeling and try to keep occupied and ideally stay with friends and family so you are not alone. also come here as much as you like its a safe place full of good people in the same boat as us xx

Hi Brean,

Like any medication there can be side effects, however you need to program your brain that the side effects will out weight the symptoms of anxiety (this is a good thing) try not have too mnay expectations soon though they take time to work into the brain chemistry Have you tried CBT at all techiques for anxiety can be very effective. All the best!

Hi everyone, I am on day 12 of celexa, I was prescribed for anxiety. My anxiety since about day 4 has been thru the roof. Thank god I have a flexible job because there's NO way I can drive around and do sales and talk to people right now. I am spacey, anxious, and out of it. I'm taking .25 Xanax twice a day to subside the anxiousness.

I am scared but hoping this subsides and I start to feel better. I can barely eat either. Basically homebound right now. Could really use some support. Is anyone still following??
