I've been diagnosed with Crohns in the last 30 days and already after being released from hospital I've had awful cramp, stomach ache and a little bleeding, when I visited out of hours I was told just to monitor it but obviously I'm a tad worried. (It's all trial and error too)
I'm also meant to be returning to work in a few days but I'm unsure if this is the right thing to do as I will have to return on Easter Sunday (most stressful day after Christmas) and I've had a very recent bleed (yesterday) I'm worried my GP just thinks I'm trying to get time off work....
Any help or advice? MRI in 3 weeks also!! never had one before just a little worried!!
If you're a bit claustraphobic I would ask your doctor for a couple of valium. You wont care about anything then but will need someone with you til they wear off. It's scary when you're first diagnosed with Crohns because most of the information you find are worst case examples. Hopefully your consultant will talk you through things and give you the information you need. As for work, I would get signed off for at least another week to give things chance to calm down. The cramps are bad enough without the bleeding. Tell your doctor your worries, I'm sure he will be understanding. xx
Doctor signed me off for two weeks and told me no arguments I need to get better not manage a busy shop, so very understanding, gave me some Lansoprazole for my stomach too...
Still waiting on my consultants to get back to me,they are very busy so ive just left messages, all I can do...
Luckily cramped spaces don't effect me, but loud noises make me jump and after I youtubed the noises I think I'll definitely end up jumping a few times! been told it can take upto an hour too... Thanks
They'll give you some earphones to wear while you're having the MRI. Ask for the music to be turned up a bit. The banging of the machine can be quite alarming, when I had my first one I thought things were going to break through lol. Just keep your eyes shut and have plenty of mind games to keep you amused while you're in there and it'll be over before you know it x
Haha my problem is if I jump ill start giggling to myself so ill just have to control myself and tell them to have the music as loud as possible and play i spy or something with myself lol x
no need to worry about the MRI. I'm the biggest wuss ever and it was a doddle!! The most difficult thing is trying not to dance about to the music lol. The noises aren't really that bad, you'll probably end up half asleep anyway!
Thanks
I think the most annoying thing now is trying to find trousers without metal in them as I will be going alone and I dislike the idea of leaving my stuff anywhere
you can take your things with you!
oh thats ok then
makes it much easier haha just need to figure out bus times, there are two hospitals in my area that do the MRI but they have sent me to the furthest away one after saying they werent going to, got to love em haha
thats typical lol! hope it all goes well for you. they make you take a laxative solution before it - just to warn you if you're getting the bus home! I was too much of a wuss to take the 'adult' stuff so I took the child version which is meant to work slower and had was only home 10 minutes before I had to go to the toilet!! (I only stay 15 mins by car from the hospital)
Thanks for the warning!! Wasn't told this haha, I'll just hide in the toilet till its safe :'
Get some leggings, easy to wear and no metal x
unfortunately I only own two pairs and neither are fit for purpose anymore haha
That's terrible, I would get a second opinion, because it is serious there is blood!
