Hi, i've been taking fluoxitine for 2 weeks now 20mg, i was previously on venlafaxine for 3+ yrs and decided i would like to see if i could come off of them and be ok as i suffer from generalised anxiety and panic disorders with depression. Anyway fast forward 5 months and after a visit to the mental health prevention team in hospital due to a masive breakdown in my mental health i was them started on fluoxetine as i didn't want to be on such a high strength AD again and this is what they suggested.
i just wanted to check that the side effects im experiencing are relitively normal, i know they can take up to 8 weeks before you feel any benifits but ive started mindless repetative twitching/rocking movements, im experiencing some problems sleeping, like tonight, and my anxiety is ten fold. Some of these side effects i was expecting but others i was not. Can anyone tell me if ive anythin to worry about?? Seeing the doctor again on thursday so will bring this up with him also, i just wanted some first hand experience with this medication and any advice.
thanks in advance.

Hi. I have been on Prozac for 24 days. Still sleep and heavy anxiety and serious mood swings! This is my first time as well. I was told 4 -6 weeks or longer. No rocking or twitching however.
Hi,
Yes all normal. I am on 12 weeks tomorrow. Many of the side effects have minimized however sometimes the anxiety comes and bothers me. But don't worry. You'll slowly also learn how to manage it better. There is a lot of support on here which is what helped me also. It will get better. Tons of people here have had good days after the bad. Best of luck to you.
Hi Hun, we all have slightly different side effects but from my experience week 2-3 were the hardest anxiety tension uncontrollable yawning, the moving on to week 3-4 I was flat feeling numb and no motivation finally week 6 I began to pick up your going through the worst right now but try not to dwell on the side effects everyday is a new day with new obstacles but everyday you get through is a day closer to getting your life back, goodluck x
Thanks for the messages guys.
Since starting on venlafaxine a good few years back I'd forgotten what the side effects were like when starting an AD.
I'm mostly just feeling numb and unmotivated whilst having surges of anxiety.
I start CBT tomorrow but still dread trying to get to sleep.
I hate being on my own when I'm like this and I find it difficult to eat, I've lost so much weight and it's so hard to see the other end from here.
I just feel so hopeless.
