Hi All
I am new to forum today although l have been reading it for past 4 weeks. I am 6 weeks almost post left side replacement and need my right hip done as well. I have hospital wednesday this week and am going to ask for op as soon as he can fit me in. Hopefully in next 2 weeks. Although the pain on day 2 was like nothing l have ever experienced before it has been worth it. If l could get right hip done today l would. Am fed up being at home all the time but this forum has helped me pass the time and learn of other hippys stories.
I know how you feel. Im currently on the sick and sitting around the house is killing me. It took me 2 and a half hours today to do the ironing becauss thd pain in my back was horrendous.
Best of luck to you and glad your first thr went well
Welcome to the forum~ I have found it helpful. I had my RTHR done 7 wks ago today and my left one will be done day after tomorrow. I was not planning on having them done so close but the pain from the unoperated side makes it difficult to fully rehab the operated one! I am feeling hopeful and ready to move forward. Good luck with speeding up your operation. Gail
Hi Lors and welcome to the forum.
Congratulations too on having your op nearly six weeks ago and becoming a Hippie! I read your other post as well and can understand you wanting to get the other done as soon as possible as it does hold you back and you are still in pain too. I had both done last year the first in January and te second in October and its great not having that awful pain any more. I could have had the second one done in July but I had a holiday booked in September so chose to delay it but having the second op 8 weeks after the the first op is really radical.
Having said that if I was a private patient perhaps I could have done it sooner as well and it also depends on your age, fitness and how you have recovered from your first op.
So if your consultant says on Wednesday that you can have your other hip done in the next couple of weeks and you feel fit enough then I would say go for it, your doctor after all should after all know best.
But just make sure you are ready to go through those first couple of weeks.
Best of luck for Wednesday and let us know what the consultant says and what you decide.

Hey Linnet
Thanks for your lovely reply its great to talk to people that have been through the same thing. My recovery for my left has went so well l never needed cruches or to use my stick l am 42 and it seems to have helped my recovery to be quick l have more strenth in my operated hip than l do in my other leg and am using it more to take weight of bad leg.
I went to physio last week and they said l was way ahead of where l should be for week 5. The pain in my other leg is getting worse day by day and l am still taking strong painkillers to ease the pain. Fingers crossed my consultant will be happy and book me in for next one. Obviously it will be a few weeks yet as l will have to go through pre op and that was a bit of a disaster the 1st time as l had it delayed due to traces of mrsa in my throat so had to wait 2 weeks and get treated for that then the day before l was meant to go in l got another phonecall from my consultant to say the platlets in my blood were borderline and l would need to come in earlier to get bloods checked before they would go ahead with op. Luckily they had not went down any lower and l did get given platlets during operation so l don't think they had any problems with me bleeding to much.
Hopefully it will not be delayed again on this one.
I will let you know on wed how l get on.
I am glad your life is back to normal and painfree as it seems like l have just been living in pain for past year.

Hi Gail
It sounds like you are going through the exact same as me and its put my mind at rest that you are getting it done so close as l would like to do. You are totally right we are not getting the benifit from the 1st op because the other holds back you living normally.
Good luck for next op on wednesday hope it goes well.
Just think in a month or so you could be totally pain free ☺

Sarah l feel you l tried to iron a week or 2 ago and l gave up after 2 of my husbands tops.
Luckily l am not out the house so am only using pj's and dressing gowns. I feel like a dogs dinner just now and l am used to business dress and make up every day as l work in a bank.
Thanks l will let you know how it goes on wednesday

Hi Laura
Thats the problem with needing the other hip done as it does hold you back. Once I had recovered from my first op I thought I would be able to do so my more but unfortunately the dragging pain of my other hip prevented me from doing very much and I was still on quite strong pain meds until I had my second op.
Your age is def on your side for recovery (a mere girl of 42 as opposed to an old bird of 65!).
I look forward to hearing how you get on tomorrow.
