Welcome. I am also 10 weeks post op on first knee and 2 weeks post op on the second. I am going really well but each time I have had a particular worry, someone on this forum has solved my problem. Don't be afraid to ask anything at all. Good luck
Hi jenfid, a big welcome to you.....I hope this forum can help you in some way or more than likely you can help us. It's so interesting and informative, there's nothing like 'lived' experiences.
I had my tkr ten months ago, still have the other one to go yet, I'm putting it off as long as possible, but it's getting closer every week.
ooooo sue dint realize ud had both knees done!!!!!!!! your a hero lol
Welcome to the gang! I am 3weeks post TKR and joined last week. I can't believe what a great help it's been. You can always find someone who can offer help.
Welcome Pru.
Hope your TKR was successful.
I had TKR 3 years ago and have never looked back, best thing I ever did.
Ofcourse it is hard work at first but well worth it in the end.
Keep exercising and keep in touch
Praying for you

Hi Jenfid, I had both knees done at once & found this site in my 3rd week PO. I was very lucky & did really well following surgery, but found this site invaluable for all the weird & wacky sensations you get after surgery. Great advice normalised most things & the best part is how we can all have a laugh at ourselves. I am 11 weeks tomorrow & am still on the journey, great days & then for no reason a rotten day. Have never regretted having it done - or having both done at once as they were both so bad & I had been waiting for 2 years. Walking normally, without pain is the best. I have my life back at 68.
Expect down days, tiredness, significant discomfort, hard work - but remember it is so worth it. Good luck.
Welcome , I am 13 weeks today PO right knee and 8 years down the line for left knee. It takes time to heal and begin to feel like your own knee.....but we do get there. Fortunately I have not had any knee pain since day 3, uncomfortable feelings but its not pain. Keep exercising, taking your medication until you don't need it any more ( thankfully don't need any now) massaging and icing...I even use heat as well.I am managing 3 x 8 mins on my exercise bike and I am 75...
Ask any questions, we all want to know that extra information
Gosh Hazel, you are SO lucky. I am waiting for 11am to come around, as that is when I see my consultant (my 2nd, as I asked for a 2nd opinion after my TKR was found to be malaligned, a painful 6mm overhang, & the 1st told me to live with it). I am about 30+ weeks, so almost 8 months of constant pain. Despite being scared, I am hoping he suggest a revision asap, I am 64, but feel 100 due to constant pain, exhaustion from meds & trying to live a normal life. I will post later what the decision is, although at my last meet with him in April, he said they preferred a minimum 1 year wait, for the bone to have healed enough to take the next round of hammering!! I had a full leg alignment x-ray a few weeks ago, so hopefully that will help with his decision!
Welcome I will be 10 weeks post op on Saturday you will find this site invaluable for advice and support
Thank you Sarah. Yes it is hard work keeping up with the exercises but I know how important they are. Are you able to do everything you could do before you had problems?
11am has passed. How did you get on? Hope you got the decision you wanted. I am 3 wks post op TKR and doing quite well.
I've just got home & posted under a new thread TKR Revision, & aspiration. It is going to be taken out completely, & a new, different prosthesis used - my only concern is that the new consultant operates from a hospital still on black alert from winter, so it may well be up to 6 months before it is done, having said that, I agreed to go on a cancellation list too, so fingers crossed!
Already read the new thread. So pleased for you. Hope you don't have to wait too long. I was told it could be up to 6 months and it was 6wks! Let us know when you hear anything. Until then try to build up your muscles and not worry too much.

You got your tkr today and you're on the internet? Well good on you, I was like Zombie for a week then partly comatose for the next five weeks due to all sorts of things and all sorts of medications.
I hope that you have a fast and pain free recovery.
Good luck!
I say hats off to anyone that has the two done within the same year. Brave, brave souls.
