new to ibs

So I have recently been diagnosed with ibs, and yesterday I had symptoms that I have not had before. I ate something with pastry and about 4 hours later my right side of abdomen inflammed and i had shooting and stabbing pains, and nothing seemed to ease it. My stomach hurt to touch too, it still was quite tender this morning it has eased of now but I have had the odd twinge. Is this normal?

Have you been tested for gallstones?

Sounds like gallstones, as I also have them.   But have lived with them for years.

Yes had ultrasound and blood tests and they came back clear so ibs was diagnosed instead

My experience has been that it is unpredictable.  What you describe could easily fit within the wide gamut of what is IBS.  Pastry is, at least for me, a big one to avoid.

If the pain came on after eating something that disagreed with you, this is common with IBS.  The stabbing and sore to touch pain is also common.  I have also had deep grinding and dull pain with IBS.

Maybe ask your GP?
