hi all ive literally just been told i going through menopause this week and new to this forum this being my first post, I had a hysterectomy 15 years ago still have ovaries and to be honest never felt so scared in all my life of changes going on with my body, the anxiety i find to be the scariest thinking every pain is a terninal illness and working myself into such a panic so i would be very grateful for any tips that can help with this thank you
Hi there I have just been told the same thing. I also suffer from anxiety and loads of other symptoms. It was a bit of a shock to hear what was wrong with me but also a relief because I was so ill and did not know what was wrong!!!!! I am trying natural stuff like ST Johns Wort and vit B. I also have the lady magnets to help with bladder probs. Not sure if it is working but symptoms do seem less. I am considering HRT. I try and keep life as normal as possible; eat well, get plenty of sleep and I am just trying to accept what my body is doing...but it is hard!!!!! Chatting on here helps too. It is a bit of a scary business so I do understand.XXXX
Thank u margaret04348 ive decided to take the excercise vitamins and healthy eating route for now to see how bad it gets as it is early days. My doctor has told me to think about hrt so i will research and see how bad symptoms get. The main problem for me is the anxiety and the dizziness and nausea Ive been at the stage of passing out and have had to leave work and go home. Not having had periods for 15 years i have no idea how this works how long ive been going through it i am just trying to gain as much knowledge as possible and hoping everyone on here can advise me thank you
Hi, again same for me. The sickness and dizzyness puts me to bed it is so bad. I also had a UTI and irritated bladder which is just awful! There is a Danish study that you may find useful about HRT....just google it and you should get it. What puts me off HRT is it just delays things....so is it better just to get it over with now rather than later...I don't know yet!!! I was ill for about 4 weeks and have had 3 weeks of being ok but I can feel it returning again...filled with dread!!!!XXXXI
h margaret04348 i hope its not too bad for you, I had uti few weeks ago ended up at hospital with iv antibiotics. I just seem to get calmed down and then another pain comes and i go into panic, is it normal to have pains in arms and legs got major pain in back of thigh and already thinking worst,, And the feeling of being spaced out and not in real world is that normal too, Would appreciate any comments and advice cos i am struggling with all these unfamiliar changes,
Yes, this can be scary with all the nutty symptoms. Please find JayNeeJay's posting about a month ago of the 66 symptoms of this wild adventure we are on, in various stages here. It will help calm you done a bit. Yes, many of us know how you feel. There are different things you can do to feel better, but please, know that you are not alone and start by finding her list, read through it, along with some other old posts that may give you some great ideas on how to better help yourself and what your doctor may be able to do for you!
For me honestly, when I am really anxious, sometimes a good cry helps release some of the wild feelings, sometimes getting out and doing a brisk walk helps (although hard to motivate during extreme time when we need it the most) to release the anxiety a great deal, relaxation mp3s work for me, very soothing voice. Others can give you ideas, but believe me, you have come to the right place!
also Lorraine, no shame in admitting but if the anxiety is really over the top - I will take a sedative to ride through it. There's only so much crazy hormone nonsense we can tolerate. Some find HRTs help, but seriously for me, if the anxiety is way over the top I don't mind taking that occasional sedative to relax if all else fails.
Thank you annieschaefer for your kind words my symptoms only started at xmas had no idea and thought i was having a heart attact, So my symptoms have not been noticeable for that long compared to lots of the ladies on here i am just grateful to be able to gain advice and support, I sometimes feel like i am going mad the headaches are constant and pains in my legs are beginning to get unbearable, I too have taken a sedative if it gets too much its the not knowing of what my body is going to do next and not being able to control it, the sudden dizziness and fainting and nausea is taking its toll on me and the adrenalin rushes when trying to sleep have got me shattered x
hi all major anxiety goin on here all cos got pain in led and stiffenin in chest and arms anyone any relaxation ideas having major health anxiety convinced it major any advice welcome thanks
Oh sorry Lorraine your having such a bad time, you had your hysterectomy 15 years ago, this often puts women straight into an early menapause but i guesse having your ovaries prevented this at least. everything your experiencing is being felt by so many of us, its been 7 yrs. since i had my last period, the pre menapause was the worst i think, felt as though my insides were turning inside out, had no end of UTIs but most of them showed negative as to infection, i get loads of aches and pains, especially in my legs, anxiety, OMG, tell me about it, dont want to go out, got ready to go out this morning and felt sick, took my coat of and felt a bit calmer, never did go out, silly or what. How old are you if i may ask? i think this patient UK has been taken over with menapausal problems now and becoming like a menapausal forum! So thankfull for finding this too. im on nothing, no hrt had to stop, no vitamins, nothing, im going to invest on the things Jay suggested as to the b6 and the natural lubrications available too as everything all dried up and uncomfortable too as most have experienced too. Best thing is to take deep breaths, no that not every day will feel the same, and this time next year you may well be a lot better who knows we are different and at different stages, with me its the emotional and mental side im finding frightening at the moment.
thank u susan556 omg this is ridiculous pain in my leg sending me into major panic its terrifying i m 51 this year its so frustrating when youre used to being strong and independent and outgoing I have only had these for a month but feel totally shattered already i have just started with vitamins and taking daily exercise but the headaches and dizziness and anxiety are horrendous
Hi Lorraine i think what worrys me is that everything may be put down to the menapause when it could be something else but if blood tests are done and hormone tests, this should tell if it really is the menapause or not. regurlar smear tests to though i missed my last one and its been four years now, im putting off going back for one as my last one was so flipping painfull, i think having five kids and abdominal surgery has put everthing in a different place and the menapause has done something else, she couldnt even find my cervix! i cant even exercise due to having M.E. M.E. makes you feel shattered too. Give the vitamins chance to work and its good your still exercising too, i think we need assurance that the dizziness and the anxiety is just the menapause, im sure it is as so many of us are having the same thing. im getting bouts of anxiety too and its awfull isnt. i havnt even been back to my doctors as i know they will just offer me prescription drugs which i dont want to take.im now 63 started menapause at 57, im just greatfull to be told i look very young for my age still.
Hello dear, I began the menopause roller coaster last March. I wasn't really sure what was happening so I thought I was dying. I had dizziness sooo bad and nauseous all day and then I stsrted to throw up. When I started throwing up in the middle of the night my husband took me to emergency. I was diagnosed with vertigo. Eye movement would cause me to hurl. The doc at hospital gave me nausea meds which were tiny pieces of paper like you place on your tongue and they quickly dissolve. I had excercises off the internet to do so after 6 months I was cured of that but just still felt not right. I came on here searching for answers cause my GP didn't help at all. I am feeling better since I started B6 and B12 thanks to Jaynee saving me. Now it's fatigue I am battling. I also take Multi vitamin and an energy drink but I drink lots of coffee for a boost. I just bought decaf coffee today and will start weaning off it cause they say too much coffee is no good for perimenopause. I love my coffee! I hope you find answers and start feeling better dear. We all have different menopause issues on here. It will be better soon. xxoo
Ohhh I also take calcium chewable in the evening that comes with vitamin D for bone health. They say to take calcium separate from other meds. I take my B vitamins and a multi vitamin in the early morning to give me that boost for the day. xxoo
Hello lol64, I too had a hysterectomy when I was 40 and they left my ovaries behind.
I started having odd feelings about 2 years ago but they really hit hard last year, I went through the pains everywhere, panic attacks, anxiety, chest pains, I even ended up at A&E three times with chest pains thinking it was heart attack only to be told everything was fine and it was panic attack/hormones.
I eventually went to see HRT specialist at my local doctors and tried it for 3 weeks it made my boobs so sore that I came back off it.
I've tried quite a few different natural remedies and I'm now using Wellsprings Serenity cream which seems to be working ok for me, Kalms to keep me being not so anxious, propranolol from the doc for the heart palpitations.
I also take a variety of vitamins... B6, q10 enzyme, cod liver oil, fish oil, oil of evening primrose.
I still have the odd bad days but I've gone down the healthy eating road, I bought a Nutribullet and have 1 green smoothie a day and I feel like if I eat junk food I feel worse.
I've just lost my 1st stone in 3 weeks and I feel like I'm starting to finally starting to take back control of my body..
It's just whatever you find works for you because there's none of us built the same.
Hope I've been some help, you're not dying (although sometimes you feel you are) good luck to you hun and keep looking through the forum for answers 💋
I forgot to mention my HRT nurse told me your ovaries that are left die after 5 years which is why menopause starts.... They don't tell you that at the time of surgery 👎
hi everyone thank you so much for your replies it helps knowing im not alone and going mad. I have just stopped taking that propranlol angela my blood pressure keeps dropping so low i think that not helping with the dizziness and fainting. \i have just started with all the vitamins and milk and i am so grateful for everyones tips on what to try as im so in the dark here.

his susan556 i can totally sympathise with you as i too think what if its not the menopause and the doctors are wrong. my partner has to stop me goin to hospital everytime i get something i havent experienced before. its so frustrating as previously i only went to doctors in extreme circumstances and had not been near a hospital since my hysterectomy 15 years ago but now i would quite gladly sit at docs all day and every day so he could check me over and it is so frustrating feeling like this x
I'm the same. Never been away from the Docs. Back again Thurs as bladder playing up!!!! Hope you feeling a bit better with all the lovely support and advice. The anxiety is just dreadful. I thought I had cancer at one point and also terrible feelings of inadequacy; just awful!!!!! I take beta blockers and gave up caffiene. This has helped with the palpitations. Exercie for me is a an alsolute must but dealing with constant injuries is a challenge; injuries which I laso believe are down to the meno!!!! Never ending!!!!XXXXX
