Hi there. I've been prescribed these by my GP as I need to lose weight due to fat in my liver. My GP said that if I was going out for a special meal I was just to not take a tablet. The tablets do not accumulate in your system. Has anyone got any experience of this. Apart from this forum I can find very little information about how to take it, foods to eat etc. Any info gratefully received thanks
Hi Elaine1723, I have recently started taking it too. I've heard that if you're eating a lot of fat in your special meal then definitely *don't* take a pill! I haven't tried eating high fat since I've started the pills because of wanting to avoid possible unpleasant side effects even without the pill. I'm not brave enough to do that experiment! Good Luck with your weight loss and a healthier liver x
They take a week to get into your system and I'd say if u are going to go over your fat allowance stop taking at least a day before. If you have a very fatty meal don't take them for a day after else u wi have accidents!!!!
Whilst this is only anecdotal, my father stopped the tablets 2 days before he went out for fish and chips on a lunchtime and he had terrible diahorrea for the later evening and during the night. He has been on them for about 6 months so don't know if that made a difference? It could have just been a coincidence of course but I don't think it was. Good luck!!
