New to the Group

Hi All

this is my first time on here and can relate to some many of the symptoms I've read. This is a massive relief to me for many months I have felt like I'm going crazy, I have been to the doctors numerous times and asked if I could be starting with menopause and they said no not at my age, I'm. 47, the symptoms I've had have been like many on here, they told me mine was down to anxiety, I have had the hot feet coming and going, waking wet through on my neck and chest, but only the odd time, it comes and goes, same with the feet, stupidly I put the symptoms in on Google and nearly frightened myself to deaf, menopause doesn't often come up, just lots of other scary things, so with a massive sigh of relief I will carry on reading what all of you have and are going through and then at least I know what I'm experiencing is some what normal πŸ˜€

Hi Sue

sounds like peri to me..

I was just like that in early peri.. i would change your doctor, yours is obviously clueless..

i started peri at age 40-41, theres no set age..

hormones start declining at approx age 35 as an example for you, but at different rates we are all different..

I am 16 months post menopause Sue and still only age 50.

if its possible see a Gyno, who specialises in womens bodies, Docs and GP' s do not and they havent a clue most of them.. And usually throw antidepressnts your way.

try some Vit B6 supplements ( 100mg)

and look at Maca 5.1 ( rainforest food) capsules

they help enormously

Hi Jay

thanks for your reply, it helps a lot, I have been all over the place the last few months, they have put me the Mirina coil in, but I have felt worst than ever with that, constantly bleeding and that's after 9 months so I'm going to have it taken out.

i will try them tablets Jay, is it because you loose these vitamins with the menopause. At least if you know what it is you can at least deal with it and not worry that it's something else, I have banded myself from Dr Google...lol πŸ˜€ xx

Hi Sue

Maybe the coil is not suiting you.

I couldnt have a coil personally, my body up there is so sensitive, dont like the thought of it for me .. i remember trying something similar years ago and it was like my body wanted to reject it, fight it, got sore, thrushy and was awful.

I had a natural ten year peri, post menopause now age 50.

Only thing i use is Ovestin Estriol Vaginal ovules for post meno dryness. They are amazing and i wouldnt be without them, i only use occassionally and i cut the ovule in half, seems to work wonders for me, theres vaginal cream ovestin too but i found that was messy but okay for a little bit externally.

As a post menopause lady age 50 and having abit of dryness my Gyno suggested Estriol ovules ( kindest estrogen) just for the discomfort i was having and it works well for me.

Sue I am 42, 12 months ago Doctor told me I was too young. I can tell you that back in September when I found this group, I regained my sanity. Terrible bleeding they offered me coil I said no and am glad reading what you have put. Anyway I skipped period October and November (oh the joy!) because the bleeding is awful. Rewarded with a 17 day period in December but I live in hope. Just take your time and read through all of the threads, try some of the different vitamins and see what suits you. I am so glad we have this forum and Jay is brilliant for reassuring and giving great advice.

Hi Daisy  yes Jay as been fab and I am definitely going to try the vits she as mentioned if there not for me I will stop taking them. With regards to the coil I so wish I hadn't listened and had it done it's been worse than ever, it is just nice for others to understand were your coming in from, I seriously thought I was going crazy and I think the doctors attitude did cause me to have some anxiety because I want getting any answers as to why I was feeling like this, I am just so glad I have found this forum, you are all a great help xx

Hi crazy

i was like you at your age too, pronlonged bleeding, ( but for 21 months)

and then periods skipped each year, i started at age 40/41 so theres no set age, docs need a shake up ... They havent a clue some of them.

I am now just age 50 and 16 months post menopause, so take no notice of what docs say and age for peri... Tut tut

HI Jay i wonder if the Ovestin Estriol Vaginal ovules would help me, i was put on vagifem pesseries last year but had to stop as they caused me to start bleeding, enede up having a scan to check the lining of my womb hadnt thickened at all. My doctor told me there is nothing out there that works as good as vagifem, maybe i cant used either? was told to stop using them and basically left to get on with it now. Love life none existent now due to extreme discomfort.

Hi Susan

i am not sure where you are.. I am in southern spain, so Ovestin Ovules are available here..

they are very very good.. And not messy... Didn't irritate me,  I actually only use half of one..

( cut them in half while in the sealed wrapper or they break up) πŸ˜ƒ

they do increase vaginal mucus on occassion, but thats to be expected..

theres ovestin vaginal cream too ( estriol) that can be used vaginally, i started with this, but preffered the ovules, they are not white or creamy, they havent caused me any problems, just a calming relief..

i dont use them all the time just when i feel the need..

if you use the cream apply a little to the external bits too. Keep all soft etc.

i use the cream too just a little tiny bit on outer bits ..

i have a very mild prolapse womb too, and sometimes it can feel abit heavy in there and these certainly help with dryness and the heavy dull prolapse feeling, my Gyno said it would take the dryness away, replump everything πŸ˜ƒ

i am not a HRT taker, had a natural menopause, so this is the only HRT help i have and it works for me, for the niggles below.

premeno Duo Ovules are good too ( stress no more Uk ) they are non hormonal and i use those too sometimes .. They are not messy like some vaginal moisturisers can be .. replens is awful, goes all white and clumpy and i didnt like it ..

estriol is the safer weakest estrogen.. Theres another cream too Gynest

( estriol) i think its called, think the UK ladies have mentioned it ..

Sent you a PM

πŸ˜ƒ

Vagifem pessaries are the strongest of the estrogens, so maybe that was the problem for you..

Useful info i saved ( not written by me by the way)

Ovestin is Estriol .. Gynest is Estriol..

The three estrogens: estradiol, estrone, estriol

There are three common forms of the hormone we call "estrogen" (and many many lesser variations and subvarieties). Understanding what each one is and does can be helpful in deciding which one(s) to supplement with when planning HRT.

Estradiol is the major estrogen produced by ovaries and is the strongest (the most effect for the least quantity) form.

Estradiol is the "active" estrogenβ€”the one that is capable of the fullest range of estrogen effects because it is the one that actually goes out there in our tissues and sockets into estrogen receptors and causes estrogen effects. In addition to being made by ovaries, it can also be produced by conversion from a number of precursors in the adrenal glands. It requires certain nutrients at specific levels to be metabolized properly, and it requires certain other factors to be present to determine which metabolites (some of which are considered more desirable than others) it is broken down into.

Estrone is considered a weaker form of estrogen. It is typically produced by special belly fat cells, and is the major estrogenic form found in naturally-menopausal women who are not taking HRT. It is not directly active in as many tissues was estradiol is, but can be readily converted by to estradiol for actual use. Because of this, it is considered by biochemists to more properly be thought of as an estradiol precursor (although the conversion can go both ways, meaning that estrone can also be considered a breakdown or even a storage form of estrogen). It is sometimes considered "safer" than estradiol by virtue of its weakness, but since larger quantities are required to get the same effects as a smaller quantity of estradiol as well as the fact that it is normally converted to estradiol when that form is needed, other sources consider it no more or less safe than estradiol.

Estriol is a metabolic waste product of estradiol metabolism that can still have some effects upon a limited number of estrogen receptors. It is formed in the liver and is 8% as potent as estradiol and 14% as potent as estrone. Once estriol is bound to an estrogen receptor, it blocks the stronger estradiol from acting there. Thus it is considered to have both estrogenic and antiestrogenic actions.

There is also some evidence that, because it is so weak and blocks the stronger forms, estriol can be considered to have "anti-cancer" action.

To take it in quantities adequate to have effects comparable to estradiol (that is, to occupy as many receptors as a needs-meeting level of estradiol), however, the risk rises to the same level with estriol as with estradiol.

A particular breakdown product of estriol, 16-hydroxyestrone, is elevated in women receiving oral estriol and is associated with an increased risk of breast and cervical cancers. Estriol has also been implicated as a source of interference in lab tests for estradiol, leading to "clinically significant" testing errors. It is believed to have special efficacy for genitourinary tissues and skin generally, but that is poorly studied and results of existing research are not conclusive.

Hi Sue I have not had a period for over a year. I'm a year younger than you 46 years old. I have hypothyroidism due to my other hormones acting up. I have had palpitations they think it is due to anxieties. I have been having mood swings really badly to where my anger and anxieties and my crying spells get bad. I get restless at times to where it is hard to calm my body down at night.

There are times I have sweated like you have. You are not to young to go through this. It can happen at a younger age too.

Ah Jay I remember posting when is this going to end and you told me it was 21 months for you - do you remember? And then straight after that no period for two months was just heaven...I am 17 months now with this horrendous bleeding altogether so I am hoping to skip a few more over the next few years. This forum gave sanity. I kept asking my Mum what about you, what about this? No she breezed through menopause except for some anxiety - I am sure it's like giving birth and you just forget.

Take care love x

Hi sweetie

yes i do remember ...

it gets better hun, i never thought it would but it does, i also had two large ovarian cysts too at different times, when my hormones went crazy in early peri, luckily they did disperse with out surgery, they were small orange size ..

and also i had a good doctor in the UK when i lived there, and he looked after me very very well,,

My mum also breezed through hers too she started and age 42 and all done by age 44. Think i had her peri added on to mine πŸ˜ƒ

it was a year ago i joined this site as then i was soooo anxious and felt a real hopeless mess, and now, a year later and with the right vitamins and supplements, i feel like a normal person again.. Still have a blip day but over all not bad at all.. Post meno is not too bad  so far so good..

big hugs my lovely
