New to this

I currently have intense itching which is worse during the night. It sometimes feels like a crawling sensation and I’m wondering if that is typical of LS or rather a fungal condition.

I have tried the Clob once before but stopped it as it seemed to be too strong. Maybe I applied too much. I’m tempted to try it again but would  like to know how long it usually takes to make a difference.

Any advice most welcome.

Thanks

My consultant put me on every night for a month then every other night for a month then twice weekly for the next few months. Hopefully it will be under control by then.

Good luck x

Hi Minniemin (like that name!)

I would say crawling sensation is a good description of sensation with LS. Sometimes I liken it to fizzing or buzzing (and not in a pleasant way). Definitely try clob again or ask your doctor for a weaker steroid cream? I think the time it takes to work is different from person to person. Also lots of moisturizing, coconut oil or Emuaid help me.

Good luck. - Sarb

I would try the clob again. My doc had me on it twice a day for a month and then twice weekly for maintenance. As I recall after the first week it had killed a lot of my symptoms (including severe itchiness)

Now I’m at the control dose and I don’t always find it’s eniugh but I don’t want to over use it. But my suggestion would be use small amounts of the clob, apply it with a mirror so you can get the exact right area, and try to gently rub it in well.

Did u have a biopsy to confirm LS?  I didn’t. My dr said  it was my architecture that was changing. Now she tells me she’s not convinced that it is. Too confusing.

I tested positive for yeast last week - it was itchy and burning As well

Why did your dr prescribe clob. I know  itching is a symptom of LS and there are others - white patches. Thinning papery skin.  U have to use a pea size amount of the clob and rub it in it very well.

U should go back to your doctor to make sure it’s not yeast

Itching is very annoying and scratching makes it worse.

It's necessary to only apply a tiny bit to each spot. Are you on Estrogen? Estrace is a topical estrogen cream that you use vaginally. It really helps. I also use Emuaid First Aid. I use it both externally on labia and some internally. A very small amount inside. You can also try Vagisil Natural Feel Internal Moisturizing Gel. It really soothes internally. It also stops itching. Take care and know you are not alone. We all share support.

It sounds like LS.  Sometimes that kind of persistent 'internal' itch only goes away through diet modification, like cutting out sugar for example.

I was told it was LS albeit visually by the hospital specialist. There is no whitening but getting itchy flare ups and one Labia Majora has fused.

I go for a biopsy next month, it will be good to know if it is definitely LS or not. My Dr said this flare up was thrush, but I have my doubts.

Thank you to all who have offered advice I have taken your ideas onboard. It is so good to know you have a sounding board when you’re at a loss to know what to do next.

I think a biopsy is good to have. My dr also said visually from change in architecture. No white patches  some itching and plenty of burning.

I tested positive last week for yeast. I did the 7 days of internal cream

When I was leaving the drs office she said I’m not firmly convinced it’s LS

That is maddening to me. So I’m going back - again.

I hear you loud & clear. I have the same dilemma with Dr not believing it could be LS. She was so convinced it’s yeast she didn’t take a swab. The Miconazole didn’t sort it hence trying a Clob.

Life was pretty straight forward before this carry on!,

Hi there, I just wanted to say that for some  they will get a white discharge that looks almost exactly like milk when they are flaring with LS.  It is not, however, the same type of discharge that one would get with thrush.  This i think is why doctors get it all wrong..as soon as the white discharge is mentioned they immediately start scribbling THRUSH on their pads!

You're right there. I've no discharge either. I had the best nights sleep last night in3 weeks.  My Clob says apply sparingly daily while needed then two weekly for maintenance. Does that mean once a day??  Morning & night would be better for me right now.

My new Consultant told me to ignore what I had been told before about putting only a tiny amount on and to slather it on (dermovate) and I have a big improvement.

Only use at night.

Thank you

Ok I'll check dermovate out when I got for the biopsy. I'm hoping that procedure doesn't add insult to injury.

Hi there

my only symptom was itching around the outer labia and lower mons. When finally seen by a DR she diagnosed it based on white patches and architectural changes. I was given Dermovate. Best of luck.

Hi there, when you are flaring some docs advise using the Clob twice a day to start off with and then reducing it to once a day, and then every other day and so on..

Did you have a biopsy. I didn’t because my dr saud im already irritated and didn’t want to worse. It. She first said LS because of architectural change. I don’t have white patches.

We want our straightforward life back

Things were much better before all this mess

My Dr said only at night but to use quite a lot as small amounts were not helping me. This is working for me.
