I have been prescribed sertraline 7 days ago. I still feel very nervous and anxious. I sweat like mad and my bedclothes are soaked every morning. I sweated before but not to this level. I feel as if I am going mad, I seem to have alot of physical systoms which have been checked out with my Gp and are all clear, bad stomach, sore back and shoulders, and a feeling as if I am going to have a heart attack. I had these systoms before I was prescribed sertaline and the tablets were supposed to help So far they are not. I went back to my Gp who prescribed me Diazipan to help ease the systoms which doesn't seem to help. He told me that it would take 4-6 weeks for the sertraline to kick in and then I should start to feel better. Does it get better and is there any other help I can get as I feel as if I am banging my head against a brick wall.
I know exactly how you feel, I was exactly the same when i first started Sertraline, I'm on 150Mg, and your doctor is right, i does kick in and things start to get better.
Just stick at it. ( word of warning - don't stop and start, if you do you go through the rough times every time you re-start taking them.
Hang in there.
Thanks Carl. On day 10 and still not feeling any better. Have thought of stopping them but I know that I need something to help me and could not face going through the systoms of another antidepression tablet. I'll just have to stick with it. Hopefully one day it will kick in. Thanks
Hi,
Just found this web page and thought I would write a message to share my experience.
I have been on sertraline for nearly 2 years now... I started off on 50mg, I am now up to 200mg !! At the moment I feel amazing and am worried about when I come off them as I never want to feel as low as I did before I started the medication.
When I started the tablets, I didnt do much for 4 weeks, I have never felt so exhausted. I started on 25mg, then went up to 50mg after 2 weeks, so for 4 weeks, I just stayed in and slept all the time!
That was really the only side effect I suffered from, although now (as read in another post) I do sweat really badly. I went to the Drs about it and it is definitely to do with sertraline. My bed clothes are soaking every morning and Im forever changing the sheets, but as I know what is causin it, I am not that bothered. I think it is a small price to pay for feeling so well again !
