Hey guys,
Well my ibs has been awful recently, we went out for my partners birthday and after 3 drinks I was in agony, was ill for 4 days after as well, I'm beginning to forget what feeling normal actually feels like...
I've been feeling sick everytime I eat ssomething.
My Dr gave me mebeverine, to take 3 times a day and I have eliminated gluten from my diet!
I am feeling really low at the moment, it's really hard to feel positive.
it is hun esp when you cant get to whats causing it .
could you have low stomach acid ,i am pretty sure thats my problem
as daft as it sounds low stomach acid isent good
because it means certain foods and substances cant be broken down proberly
and either cause constipation or dierroh .
i am looking into taking raw apple cider vineger with raw honey in warm water to see if it helps ,as it does help many people .maybe take a look into it see if it applys to you .
I'm just thinking when you mention drinks do you mean alcohol? Check that it is OK to have alcohol with your tablets. I've made this mistake myself recently and my sister pointed it out to me.
Hope this settles down fo ryou.

Sometimes I think the medicine they give people is worse then the IBS and just gives them additional side affects. I think you should start all over and get off medications, start over. There is a girl who had IBS for 20 years and she has a web site and sells a book that she wrote on the foods and everything she did to combat IBS. The name of the book is eating for IBS by Heather Van Vorous. Just type her name into google and find her web site. I think I would rather listen to someone who walks in your shoes and who has successfully treated her IBS.
I think your thoughts of IBS can put anyone into a downward spriral that they can't get out of because their mind is not helping either. The mind is a very powerful thing and when the mind is sick from IBS then so is the body and the bowel movements. It is worth a try to check out Heather Van Vorouse. Her book as recipes for lactose intolerance, crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis and other digestive disorders. You could maybe even email her and talk to her about how bad your IBS is. Its worth a try. I wouldn't rule anything out when you have such a dibilitating condition that could be treated with the proper suggestions from someone who was in the same condition. Good luck.

What were you drinking and how much was a drink? Are you sure it was the drink and not something you ate? Drink can be an issue, with sweet drinks likely to be worse; probably fizzy ones as well.
TBH feeling sick every time you eat doesn't sound like IBS.
Mebeverine has less side effects than many other drugs - Allergic reaction being the only one I can find mentioned. Gluten is not an IBS issue, although things that contain gluten often are. Of course we are all different, but what I recommend is drastically cutting your diet until you see an improvement and then adding back things one at a time. You need to allow 48 hours to check whether there are any ill effects.
I started with the Monash University low Fodmap diet, but found that sme additional items caused me problems and I had to cut those out as well. Since then I've been able to add some things back, as long as I keep the quantities down.
stomach pain and feeling sick is not ibs.
sounds more like gastritis/acute dyspepsia to me
Hey thanks everyone, I have stopped the tablets, and started with the a gluten free diet.
My nan has the same abdominal pains I get, and hers has been confirmed ibs,
Only thing is I don't want to get bunged up with this diet and not be able to go...
Well the low Fodmap diet seems to be low fibre as well. Best thing is to drink more water I guess.
Hi Freya; I have read others input, and do feel that googling the book/info that Lynn sugested is a very good idea, and a good place to start. I don't have IBS, but do feel that one's diet is very important in your condition. Alcohol, caffeine and fatty foods have always been a prob for people with any bowel conditions...I do feel for those who can't enjoy what others know to be a normal lifestyle...as for the abdo pains, anti-spasmodics (even the common Buscopan) can be of help.. even try a hot pack when able for a short-term relief....there are others as well, but need to be discussed with dr, as need prescription. As many sufferers have noted, that by keeping a Diary of foods consumed in relation to day/time and the abdo pain's reaction (good /bad),,is the first step to knowing what you can take into your digestive system...Am feeling for you, as ANY chronic pain is very debilitating and stressful, but keep in there, and keep us all informed, as you will know that what you find to be helpful, can also help others too....Bron
