First. I'm so happy I found this site!! So many ppl don't understand how living with this disease is. They say "Oh, you just need to watch salt intake?" No that's not all. Salt is in absolutely EVERYTHING. I had been symptom free for almost 3 weeks. I had a night of too many adult beverages, and 2 days later I'm crawling to bathroom throwing up violently. I don't really have a question, I'm just so happy I can come here and chat with you all. I follow a 1500mg diet, take a water pill. I had been having a "cheat" meal once a week. But after last night, I'm not doing that again. It was my first time vomiting with MD. And my dizziness was scarey bad. I was diagnosed abt 3 months ago, and I think my low salt diet was starting to work, then I went out and drank too much with my husband and friends. Geesh! Thank you all for reading and being here!!!β€οΈ
I have learned so much reading this site. Everyone is very generous with their information and it's really worth popping on every once in a while to check for updates about new ideas. Glad the salt reduction has had such a big impact for you. I am careful about that, VERY careful about not exposing myself to very loud noise (that can trigger an episode for me) take my supplements religiously, work out so I sweat A LOT, drink good water and eat as much organic as possible. I have gone from constant episodes to once every 3 months or so. Good luck!
You are not alone, for sure! I keep to a low sodium diet, take a diuretic and that helped me a lot in the beginning when I also had terrible vertigo and throwing up every 15 minutes. That was almost 8 years ago, and I haven't had that terrible vertigo again since being on the meds. Now, if I get vertigo, it is slower, less scart and doesn't cause the nausea. But even that is infrequent. I find that, for me, the low salt diet and plenty of good sleep, seems to keep the worst at bay. The wooziness and fatigue and some brain fog, still rear their ugly heads from time to time, but it is better. A hearing aid also helps with hearing and the tinnitus. Keep up the good work! Hopefully you will be like me and have more good days than 'Meniere's days'.
Thank you Lana! It really helps hearing the success stories that are doing same regimen I am onπ I'm hopeful my experience last night is in the past and staying there! Do great of you to take time to reply π
Hi Amy and welcome. Around Thanksgiving I too had my first major dizzy episode with vomiting and all. It was horrible. I'm like you in that I am watching my salt intake really well and taking a water pill. I've cheated on a few meals and this weekend I think I had 6 beers - so was a little worried what MD would do but woke with only a mild headache. I was happy with just that. Be sure to drink lots of water. My ENT told me to stay away from caffiene. You will find lots of good info on this site and I was very happy to find it too! Hang in there.
Hi Ruthie and thank you. π I drink a gallon of water a day, I have for years, prior to my MD diagnosis. I am a bit scared now, abt drinking alcohol again, and won't be. The vertigo and vomitting was horrible!! The only thing I've not given up is my morning coffee. For now, I've done well besides over wknd. giving up coffee will be hard for me. Which is what I told my dr. I have one large coffee every morning, that's it. So I hope I can continue this. If not, I'll let it go. But for now. I'm a tad hooked on coffee lol. Thank you for replying!!
