That's the purple inhaler? I can't say that it improves my health, but I guess it does me no harm. I have been taking it for years, so unless I stopped I couldn't say whether it was a good medication or not.
hi Christine thank you for your reply
i was breathing bad, but my worse problem was chest pain, tight band high in chest almost constant when they put me on seretide (yes the purple one) it really helped within 2 weeks no chest band! yay breathing was much better TILL they decided to stop it and cut it out (long story) when i went on 250 to wean off it all my symptoms came back with vengeance, i was put back on 500 about 10 weeks ago but its just not working!!!
I am also on purple 500 also salbutamol and spiriva which is a little giamo u put a tablet in and it crushes it and u breath in the stuff. If I'm honest the first 3 yrs worked fine but I am on oxygen 16 hrs a day now even tho after all those hrs my sats are still rarely over 82% !! But in fairness I have a lot ofd other illnesses unfortunately and on Los of medication so maybe they intteract who knows I suffer obviously with breathing but my worst problem with that is I had blood clo on lung and 3 in right leg and 1 in left and suffered chronic pain was told was thdvt causing it after all these yrs now find I have crumbling and seperating of femur in leg and need to fill in bad bone with some from another part of my body and worde I have to have r hip replacement at 53yrs its ostoporsis and arthritus caused by blood clots makes me feel like screaming I haavent been food shopping for over 3 yrs I was talking to a lovley lady here saying I have to give in I need wheelchair I can't walkk or breath maybe that way I can go out would be nice sorry. Do waffle on lol regards Lorraine x
Hi Jackie

Hi Jackie
I've had COPD for two nd a half years. Was on just serevent twice a day at first but now on spiriva as well now nd it works well for me. Didn't think the serevent was working as l got very breathless but feel much better with the spiriva. Might be worth a try.
Hi Margaret
iv heard that name (spiriva) a few times now i think i will ask about it
thank you
I've been on Spiriva for several years now. I assume it's part of the standard treatment for COPD.
I have been on Seretide 500 for about seven years along with salbutamol and spiriva, also oxygen. Because of the bone depletion that can be caused by these medications I am also taking Calcium tablets.June
Oddbiddy, I had forgotten that the COPD nurse who visited me recently said she would be writing to my doctor about vitamins or something else that will help ward off the bone problems. I must follow that up.
Hi Christine, hope so it's important we don't want porous bones if we fall. June
Hi Nanajac
My friend is on Seretide for Bronchectisis and COPD and swears by it, but I get on better with Serevent and Budesonide. I also have tight band round my chest, but have bad posture and heavy breasts were I have doubled my weight since becoming so inactive, then again I am 70 and have had COPD since my 40's. Maybe another drug would suit you better. I am also on Spiriva sometimes called Tiotropium which I find very helpful, so perhaps have word with GP.
hi
i loved seretide when i first used it i felt like i was not ill, but after stopping then going back on it it makes no change in me
Hi Nanajac, the trouble with COPD is that whatever it always gets worse, but you have to find the right drugs to be best for you. Why on earth was it stopped if you were doing well? I don't get it.
hi you wont believe this but because the drugs was doing good my doc said 'you dont have copd anymore so im taking you of your meds' after a few weeks i was pretty bad so went to see another doc he went crazy saying that doc was stupid to say that it was just your meds was working! go back on the meds but they are not working now
Hi OMG!!! That beggars belief! That doctor should be struck off! COPD never get's better, is only controlled and can improve slightly if a person gives up smoking or gets away from car pollution and get the right drugs for them. It is sometimes a while to find the right ones, but for heck sake get a doctor who knows what he's talking about. If your current one seems OK, go back and tell him it's not working and he should be willing to try something else. Did you get an official diagnosis from a Chest Clinic or X-rays, as asthma can also cause same symptoms?
Hope you will get the correct meds to make you feel better.
