So I was recently diagnosed Nov. 15 and I was prescribed acyclovir for 10 days. I was diagnosed with a blood test from the emergency room they did a swab test also but they didn't tell me what it said because the swab was done days after(I went to the ER twice as they were sure it was related to hair follicles) so I just got the blood test results back. This was my first time experiencing such an outbreak so I told the person I was currently having sex with he claims he doesn't have it and his results were "benign" according to his paperwork. I see my gynecologist tomorrow for a second opinion but my real problem is during this time a guy I work with has expressed his interest in me and I so badly want to tell him my issue but if things don't work out I don't want to risk rumors being spread at work. What should I do??
You need to clarify your results and HSV type first. If you were already positive by IgG, then it's an old infection, not new, and it may not even be genital, as the blood tests cannot tell you where you're infected. If positive by IgM, your results are meaningless, as that is a highly inaccurate test for herpes that is not recommended by the CDC as a result. Swab test is your best bet at a proper diagnosis, so I'd try to get a hold of those results. Pity if they left it too late to get valid results.
Yea that's part of the issue too with it being old because I also told my ex whom I was with months prior and he claims he doesn't have it either.. I'm going to have my gynecologist go over the results tomorrow at my appointment because I never got a clear explanation of the results she just called and told me I had it and that doctor was prescribing meds.. Unfortunately and also fortunately the bump is now gone. It started out as 1 and withing 2 days there were 2 and over night it turned to a large painful blister that lasted about a week.
