Next Step

Hello

I have been off work for 2 weeks with Anxiety / stress and am due back 23/1/14 .

I am not really sure what to do next , I have felt slightly better being out of the work environment and have been using breathing exercises / relaxation techniques to help manage the problem but I am worried that when I return to work all the previous problems will return. I need to work and although stressful actually enjoy my job so I don't think changing my job would help . My worst fear is the return of waking up in the middle of the night in absolute panic and subsequent lack of sleep which is what was the main problem before .

Any advise from people with who have had similar issues would be greatly received.

Hi, it's good you are aware of your problem. After years of anxiety problems; my advice is to do what your feelings tell you. You may have other issues outside work that need addressing. Don't ignore what your body is telling you. Don't be afraid to talk to your GP. It can be a complex condition. Don't ignore it.

I hope you resolve your issues and get back to normal quickly.

Thanks for the reply , I have just got an appointment through today from the mental health team , hopefully they will give me some pointers
