hi dondons3 long time no hear ! ask yourself why are you scared and what your scared of ! that way you can begin to deal with your nightmares ! i hope this makes sense ! david
Hello dondons, i have found in the past, that someone to cuddle up to is a great stress reliever, cheers, george. xx
Hi David, how have you been? Ok I hope xx
I know what it is im scared of and why, sorry it was a silly post to write xx
Thank you for your reply George, I only have my babies to cuddle up to but I can't sleep them in with me, can't let them see how I am at nights, appreciate your reply though, thank you x
Hi Dondon are you on any ad's? I ask this because I am on quite a high dose of sertraline and one of the side effects is bad dreams. I think it is common with many ad's. Most of them aren't nightmares but some are very nasty and I get them most nights. I have learned to live with them now and see them as the price to pay for less depression. But if you can't I think you should go back to your doctors and see if you can change to another med. Or maybe you feel well enough to stop them completely.
If you aren't on ad's or even if you are then counselling might make a difference. It is difficult though as we all dream every night though a lot of people don't remember them. Dreams are a natural part of sleep and there is no way to stop them.
I hope you can get it sorted. Bev x
Hi Bev, thank you for your reply x
I'm not on any anti d's anymore, used to take mirtazapine but stopped them now. My problem isn't just when I sleep as I barely do, it's also when I'm awake, sorry I'm not making much sense, it's not something I can post publicly.
I do see a counsellor who is great but I'm not sure really talking about it can change it, I need something to help me switch off at night, to stop this happening, although I realise there's probably not such a thing.

Hi Donna maybe you are so tired you are having day mares. There is such a thing you know. Have you tried over the counter meds? Not sure how effective they are though.
I think the first problem you need to tackle is lack of sleep as it is obviously making you too tired to function properly. I know what you said about meds but I take a very low dose of mirtazapine at night and it really helps me sleep. Maybe this would help you?
I suppose you have tried the 'trying to get into a good sleep routine etc.' though I appreciate this must be difficult with babies. Have you tried no coffee after 6pm, no tv or computer for the last hour or so before you sleep and a boring book? A hot bath is sometimes good too. Or how about writing down your anxieties to get them out of your system before bedtime?
I hope this has helped a bit Donna.

Used to be on mirtazapine but didn't help me and have tried lots over the counter meds too, also to no avail!
I don't drink coffee or any hot drinks, I don't Watch tv or anything I just stay on my phone honestly nothing helps me sleep tried it all doctor won't give me sleeping tablets don't know what else to try or do Not sure I really care anymore what's the point? Xx
I care Donna. Have you tried staying off your phone before bed? The idea is that you brain has a chance to calm down before bed.
Doctors these days are very reluctant to give out sleeping pills but there are other ad's which might help you relax before sleeping. Go back and ask them please as you can't go on like this.

Thank you it's really kind of you xx
Yes ive tried staying off my phone, ive laid for hours in darkness trying to sleep but it just doesn't happen, usually something else does which makes sure that I can't sleep, im scared to sleep and scared to be awake, I can't win there's no escape for me xxx
Don't lie in the dark for hours trying to sleep. That's the worse thing you can do. If you can't sleep after 20 minutes get up and read a boring book or do something gentle.
I use imagery if I can't sleep and have a few favourite places I visit. Or a nice fantasy or 2. I sometimes find reverse logic helps too ie I tell myself I am not allowed to sleep and try and force my eyes to stay open.
Do I know you from another site Donna?
Bev x
Honestly ive tried everything I just can't sleep x
Im not on any other sites no xx
