Hi just wanted to let you know that haven't tried this. I had a grommet inserted in my right ear on the 18th August and since have had no spins and continue to feel better and better ๐ after 8 months of pure hell!!!! I had been off work and returned 4 weeks ago and managing fine. Anyone that hasn't tried this I would recommend at least a discussion with your doctor. It's a very simple procedure, local anaesthetic that takes a minute to insert, in my opinion nothing lost in giving this a try. It certainly changed my life to being normal again Abby
Dear Abby i am going to have a chat with my Dk about this many thanks
That's great news and that definitely gives many a lot of hope. I had grommet fitted 30 july. I did have 7 spins post-op but they were minor only lasting half or so and went away. Nearly 2 months without one and like you am working fine, need quiet around me though!, and getting old self back. I take it you had a steroid put in the grommet at the same time?
Hi Angela just had grommet they didn't mention steroid! They have told me the grommet wouldn't last long around 6 months then they work there way out, but consultant said if successful I can have a more permanent one that last around 2 years! I think I may have jinked myself though posting my comment yesterday!!! Had a bad day at work yesterday, very noisy in the office & bright sunshine think it triggered me off again, got a really bad headache and felt sick. Woke up this morning and can feel the pressure building in my ear!!!!! Just praying it goes away and doesn't get any worse ๐
Has anyone tried to claim disability allowance????
Not tried, I am ok ish at the moment and able to work! I've read it's very difficult to claim! It's really important to ensure your consultant & GP write thorough notes and not use things like vertigo symptoms, they need to put more details like having to crawl to the bathroom, explaining what happens when you go dizzy etc etc, this is the information that the benefits agency are looking at when making decisions about claims. I am very sure the day will come when Iam going to struggle to work and have to go down this route!!! I've just had 7 months off work but after having a grommet inserted have felt better and able to work for past 5 weeks, however this past week noticed the fullness in my ear returning & my head not feeling quite right, not dizzy but feels like I could be at anytime. Also had some bloody stuff coming out of my ear! Just hoping the grommet hasn't come out, I have an appointment with consultant on Wednesday so will see what happens. Have you ever tried a grommet?? X
