No matter what try doing to distract myself, anxiety still gets worse!

So Im not sure if im the only one but I've realized that if im feeling bad and like ill have shortness of breath i try doing something to distract myself but for some reason i get worse and i only hyperventilate and get lightheaded. for example, i try painting but my breathing only gets harder and i feel like im not taking in enough breaths.

Doing something else sometimes can help but not if you are still alone because you are still fixating on the issue 

I used to find calling a friend or family member just say fancied a catch up  or going out it’s interaction with other people  

It’s been alone with your thoughts that is not helpful
