hi all, just had a call from surgeons secretary, am now able to fully weight bear, after using a glide chair around the house and a wheelchair outside , due to extensive metal work in hip as had a hole in socket which they found when operating. My bilateral hip replacement has been nothing but amazing no where near as bad as I thought it was going to be.
So onto crutches, feel a bit nervous about walking again hope these new hips hold up.
Hope everyone is well.

Really good news. hope you continue to progress well!
Sounds like you are coping really well.
How long ago was op?
You will love to be free on crutches and before you know it one stick!
good luck

Hi carol , I'm 6 weeks post op, but have not been able to walk since Christmas as both hips were so bad hole in socket in left hip and bones fused together in right hip, had to have both hips replaced at the same time. bit nervous feels like I have forgotten how to walk.

Thanks catol, there are a lot more people worse off than me, I just get on with it, going to hospital on Monday for a pre op as having my right knee replaced soon, had the left one done last September, so it's still a bit challenging walking as knee is bone on bone, lol.
kaye.
I admire your spirit.
Wishing you you all the luck possible
carol
Well done Kaye
You are one brave woman - I wish you all the luck in the world
Kindest wishes Linda
Thank you pansycat, I'm not brave, just have to get on with these things,
thank you anyway.
You are doing so well after all that, take it gently
What great progress for you. Makes one little hip replacement look a doddle in comparison. Best wishes to you for your recovery.
Thank you Maggie, will take it gently , but so excited to be on my feet, lol
Thank you Gillian, one hip or two it's a big thing for anyone Just can't believe what a difference it's made already, as before was a complete nightmare, couldn't walk, pain was awful spent most of my time in tears and pure frustration.
😀
Hi Kaye ... wow ... amazing woman you are ...your determination is admirable - and so is your courageous .... no matter what you say, what you are doing to get "on with it" takes a lot of courage ...
blessings and love

Hi Renee, your so kind, I gave always been of the attitude , just get on with it , so many people worse off than me, do have off days but then think how lucky I am. I'm sure a positive out look aids recovery, but not for everyone. Xx
Hi Kaye sounds as if you are in a terrible shape I wonder how or why it got so bad, was it because you left it so long to get done, or scared of the operation, or your bones just crumbled so quickly, I have only been aware of all this since Jan this year, I was told I had a bed problem and needed a new flat firmer bed, it was sciatica, but the Xray was proof of the pudding...here I am now awaiting my second left hip doing, and OMG it needs doing, cna hardly walk on it and have to get back to work next week, what happened to you??? please tell us here???
Kindest regards Ian.
Hi Ian. I was in a bad way but it is all coming together now , this it what happend. I have rhumatoid arthritis had it for 12 years up until last year had no real problems apart from my left knee which was stiff and painful this was replaced in September 14. Just after Christmas I got a real bad pain that ran from the middle of my back and down my left leg , went to docs he said it was acute sciatica gave me pain killers and excercises to do which I did. However by the end of January I couldn't walk was in so much pain I couldn't bear it, but carried on by the middle of February had to go to A & E , I was admited where they did an x Ray and found both my hips were in a bad way, was told then I needed them both replaced and out on the list more pain killers (morphine).
Do eventully had them both replaced on 21/5/15 it wasn't until the surgeon got into my hips he found the other problems, but hey it's all going in the right direction feel brilliant now, but having the other knee replaced soon.
Best Wishes
