I'm 29 years old and have never had very regular periods but lately it's been crazy. Before I get into everything I should disclose that I have never been pregnant, never even had sex (yep, a 29 year old virgin), and therefore have never had an STD. Okay with that out the way, I went like 3 or 4 months without a period and then suddenly got one that lasted a month. Normal amount of bleeding everyday but it just lasted forever. Then it stopped for about a week and started up again very lightly but only lasted like 2 days. It then started up AGAIN a few days later when I started working out and eating better. I am trying to lose weight and was out on a 30 minute walk when it started the last time and now it's been two weeks of daily heavy bleeding with clots. The largest clot i've passed has been about the size of a quarter. I feel fine and have no cramping or pain but bleeding heavy for two weeks has me very scared bc I'm reading that I could become anemic. I know I need to go to a doctor but I don't have any insurance or money right now. Is there anything I can do to stop this until I can see a doctor?
It sounds like you could have polycystic ovarian syndrome especially as you are having weight issues. The best advice, if you can’t afford to see a doctor is, buy some multi vitamins and minerals if you can afford them. Give up sugar, dairy and alcohol and exercise regularly. Also what is recommended to PCOS patients is a low GI diet. Do you suffer with mood swings and acne? Are you diabetic?
I'm 40 and two years ago I found out I had a fibroid. This caused periodic spotting in between my cycle and clots during my cycles, which were are heavy, but only lasts like 5 or days. I am now on week three of my cycle. It keeps stopping and starting. I was also scarred until I found out other women are having similar issues on this site and others. I am going back to the Dr. to see what is going on and what my options are at this point. I just hope it is nothing to serious. I don't think there is anything you could do to stop it. I have read maybe IBU Profen will slow it down. I also got iron supplements from Walgreen's. I figure with this much irregular bleeding my body probably needs it.
I'm just sick of this! I think I've stopped then I go to the bathroom, wipe and see blood. Even if it is just a little it concerns me. So many things it could be, did my fibroid get bigger, do I have more, is it hormones, or worse! The only way to know for sure is to be seen by a doc.
