Non cardiac chest pain in cold weather caused by anxiety

Hello  I was wondering if anyone could relate to chest pain or discomfort in the cold weather or walking up an incline due to anxiety.  I have suffered with anxiety for several years and this last year due to various reasons had been the worse time for me. I had nuclear heart scans to see if if was angina in January but they came back clear.  Both my gp and and the hospital doctor said it could be my asthma which is usually mild.  I also have perrenial rhintis along with vartious other conditions.  I cannot take anything for the rhintiis because the steroid inhalers and and anti histamines cause a rise in my eye pressures and as I have  glaucoma not a good mix and of course now in the hayfever season I can feel some symptoms coming.  Whilst I was waiting for the heart scan results a routine blood test showed my thyroxine medication needed to be reduced and after doing so the pain disappeared and I was able walk faster and further (arthritis allowing).  Last night I popped to the corner shop at about 7.30pm.  As it was only 5mins away I just went with a cardigan but soon realised it was cold as I really should have taken a coat.  Anyway the pain started within a few mins not bad and stopped when in the shop and as soon as I got home took relieve inhaler although by now it was more or less gone.  I read so much about anxiety and chest pain but was wondering under what conditions they arise.  The only other thing is the asthma or rhinitis. Thank you for reading this.  I don't think I can take any more testing this year.

Hi I had a massive heart attack 15 month ago and had 2 stents put in . Then 2 weeks later I was air lifted again with chest pain and ecg showing change in my heart. Well had all things done incase the stents didn't work but it was a massive panic attack they doctors had for got to put me back on my Valium as I suffer ptsd and bad anxiety..I wake up every day in fear of horrible thoughts .i had chest pain a week ago but think it was due to to much exercise. ..I must say it's very hard as the signs of a heart attack are so much like a panic attack. I'm on about 10 medications for heart at 3 for ptsd and anxiety. I hope you feel better soon and I can understand all the test are hard to cope with

Thank you for your reply.  I have self referred myself through the NHS for some counselling for my anxiety.  Not sure how long I will have to wait. When we lived in London I had 2 lots of counselling one to one and group sessions which did help somewhat.  We moved up to the N W of England last summer to be near daughter and family which was a good move but I found the whole thing so stressful and physically exhausting.  As I tend to see to all household bills etc it was me who had to deal with all the things to you have to do when moving house. That plus leaving family and friends behind and already being in pain with arthritis IBS etc gave the anxiety a field day.  My husband also has health problems and since moving both of us have been up and down the hospitals here for tests etc.  I think concentrating on sorting the anxiety out is my first priority now.  I don't know how long I will have to wait or even if they will see me but I hope so.

You have had a stressful time but I hope you will find your anxiety and heart problems will not cause you too much trouble in the future.

Best wishes to you.
