Hi 6 weeks after hip op I am still having trouble sleeping at night also when I get to bed I feel Claustrophbic and I am awake all night, could this be all the Pain Killers, going to the Doctors tomorrow anybody had this would lve some advice from the Hippies, many thanks Michael.
Hi Michael,
So sorry to hear that ... sleep or lack of sleep is something a lot of us here are dealing with after THR ... usually it is because of the sleeping on your back .. is that the case with you or are other things keeping you awake ..are you in pain?
Maybe you can get a sleep aid of some sort - anti anxiety perhaps that also might deal with the claustrofobic feeling ?
Discuss this with your doctor tomorrow ...
How are you doing otherwise?
Take care and be kind to yoursel
warm hug
renee
Hi Renee thanks for the chat,I think I am doing quite well it's just over6 weeks now and I am walking with no aid in the house and climb stairs one after the other, walk slow with a stick for up to a mile, but can't cope with the nights, just lay there, hour after hour sometimes watching TV other trying to get to sleep, find it hard to concentrate,I like cooking and Watercolour Painting,Golf and Bowles, but I can't get my head round it,only time I have slept is when I have had a drink and a sleeping tablet, and you know what the a Doctor will say about that, and I don't want to depend on that, you take care,Michael
Hi Michael!
I am starting my 6th week post-op. I found the painkillers made it difficult to sleep. My doctor said it was ok to take Ambien, a sleeping pill, with the pain meds I was on. I slept pretty well, and even after repositioning at night, was able to fall back to sleep.
I found that that when I slept well, I felt like my healing was going better. Please talk with your doctor. Praying sleep comes your way!
6 weeks is pretty long to go on without being able to sleep at night. Can you tell us what pain pills you are on and how frequently you take them?
