Can you get frozen shoulder twice in the same shoulder???? I had fs 2years ago in my dominate shoulder (right) was sucesslfully treated thank god! Now on my second in my left shoulder and hoping to get surgery soon to sort it out again...........My biggest fear is that my right shoulder is now giving me some jip - pain soreness etc but no loss of movement......please someone tell me its not going to turn into the dreaded frozen shoulder again!!!!!
Hi
I feel for you. My left shoulder started may it's now firmly stuck even after 3 injections. Advised options are physi/ manipulation it surgery but is doesn't sound like I have a choice it's the consultants decision or program decision?
I unfortunately started with pain in both shoulders but my left one was worse unfortunately my right one is also starting frozen stage and I was told this can happen also 50%chance return. So sorry and really hoping for you as we are all different a slight trauma of my wrist is to blame for left one but apparently bursitis can cause it also. May I ask what treatment you had please
I was told can only get it once per side. Hope that it is true. You may have pulled something in the second side from overuse good luck
My first fs on my right I had MUA/arthroscopy/SAD and the surgeon cleared the rest of the adhesions out.........that was last year (started july 2014 though) didn't get treatment until feb 2014......This second fs started march/april this year Have seen surgeon who requsted further xrays and ultrasound & he has said he will operate again. So my biggest worry is that it is about to refreeze in my right shoulder as I'm getting that awful tell tale sign of pain
I will be asking the surgeon to have a look at it again when I next see him........I just wanted someone to tell me No you can't get it again in the same shoulder
I can't even begin to think what it is like to suffer two at the same time.....its just such a debilitating disabling depressive extremely painful misunderstood condition
I wish you a rapid healing period
Oh mine has no known cause and I'm not a diabetic or have thyroid problems - just extremely unlucky
Omw..I'm also reading about ppl having it twice..I'm hoping this not ur case.as I can sympathize with ur pain..
I am almost up to a year decking with this. I really hope never to even get it on my other arm. I
Oh Linda
You've been through chick. As I said my left one is totally frozen, started April but now my right ones starting. It's agony . I'm waiting to see what surgeon suggests. Really feel your pain and it's so debilitating , can't dress myself or dry myself and my hair!!! Grrr I have naturally curly hair so I currently look like I've had my hand in an electric socket!!!
Take care. Thinking of you. Very gentle hugs
I had FS, Xiaflex injections was helpful in release of tissue build up restricting movement.
What is that? A cortisone or what
I've had it twice (once in each shoulder), and let time heal them both. No injections, no surgery, as I didn't want to force any issue. So far I feel like I've built up some kind of immunity and thus can't get it again. I hope that is true for both of us! Best of luck, Mike.
Unfortunately Linda yes it does happen I've just had surgery this week on my left and a friend I know had it in the right and it came good and now she has it in the left
Xiaflex is a protien designed to break away the collagen tissue causing the shoulder to freeze. See Xiaflex online. It has been approved by the FDA in US in 2014 . I had it done on frozen shoulder and frozen fingers.
there is more info online. I hope Xiaflex is available to you. Ask a specialist about it. Or go online for a referal,to see air in your area from the manufacturer. I highly recommend it. It takes a few days to work after the injection, in my case I waited 2 weeks, then you go back in to see the dr and he manunipulates the shoulder to move since the tissues has been
eliminated by Xiaflex.
No no surgery as in my case surgery was a risk and could have caused it to get worse.
Dear Dee, get well and wishing you a complete and painless recovery with total range of motion repaired. You know the drill. So sorry you have had to suffer this in both shoulders. It's so miserable.
The things that happen to us. OMG, and YIKES, to put it mildly.
Really???? I don't think they offer this in the UK but I will ask my surgeon about it when I next see him...........
I know some people are very very brave and sit it out until fs thaws on its own but I'm getting so depressed with this awful condition that for me I have to have surgery! My life has stopped in its tracks!! I can't drive as a can't change gear now - so I've become a bit of a recluse just like last time! So for my own sanity I will be getting surgery and it can't come quick enough!!!!! It teriffies me to think you could still get it twice in one shoulder! once in both is bad enough!!!!! Why is there not much research into this vile complaint I'll never know!!!!!
Its such a vile debilitating disabling depressing misunderstood condition!!!!
Thank you all for your continued support I wish you all rapid healing and send gentle hugs to everyone
xx
Ouch I feel your pain
I also cannot wash my hair tie it up put deodorant on or shave my pits!!!! Soooo depressing And that vile pain that makes you drop to your knees
I would rather go through child birth!!!!!
My hair is long and always looks unkempt since this nightmare started! So I do feel your pain!!!! Sending gentle hugs back xx
Wishing you a rapid recovery
It fills me with dread!!!
Terrifying indeed
.hope the surgery help..
If by surgery you mean cutting and blood and all that ask about if you could do manipulation under anesthesia instead. I did that and had a major improvement in Rom and less pain right away.
Thank you for your well wishes, one thing I can say is if anyone has surgery make sure you start exercising your shoulder straight away. I came home from the hospital and looked up exercises for post op FS because my surgeon said to start physiotherapy straight away, I couldn't get in to see a physio for a week and I just knew that if I did nothing for a week my shoulder would start ceasing up, I'm now 5 days post surgery and with exercise I now have about 30% more movement than I had before. I also had the injection into the shoulder to stretch the capsule a week before surgery and unfortunately it did nothing and the pain was worse than the surgery because my capsule was too tight to add even 3ml of fluid where most have around 20ml.
I believe my surgery will be a complete success, I'm off to physio tomorrow and seeing an onsen therapist on Tuesday. I'll keep you updated
