'Normal results?!?!'

Hi guys I need some advice please

I have just recieved my latest results from my endo: T4 11.2 (Range 6.3-14) and TSH 2.00 (Range 0.3-6).

He told me at my last app that if my results were finally within range then I should feel better almost immediately. He said it would be something else causing it if I was still feeling ill.

I dont feel any different as to when my T4 was around 40. I feel soooooooooo exhausted, anxious and have severe muscle ache plus other bits like dizziness.

I am worried this is all in my head, never felt this ill before, feel guilty as I cant work or do much at all

Any advice would be gratefully received

Hope you are all well(ish)

Morning Els

You sound very similar to me. My thyroid is now in the normal range but I was still exhausted, had acute anxiety, aching legs and stomach probs. The GP (his diagnosis was confirmed by the endo) decided that the anxiety was left over from the illness and that I was anxious about being ill. He started me on an anti-depressant called citalopram and cognitive behaviour therapy (which has yet to start). It has taken 5 weeks for the tabs to kick in and for the last 2 weeks I did feel nearly normal and had started going out shopping etc again. This week I am back to feeling rough and I think it may be due to my stomach probs but I am not sure - I'm still trying to work it out.

Hopefully this is just a blip though and I will get back on the road to recovery.

If you are prescribed anti-depressants you need to be aware that they take a few weeks to kick in and that for those weeks you will feel worse than you do now - best to have friendly support to help you through.

I have heard of others being exactly the same as us. They have made a full recovery but it just took time.

Hope this helps Linda

Hi Linda

Thank you for replying to me. Its good to know that I am not the only one feeling like this.

I would just like to get back to some normality and work etc, so bored of being stuck in the house!!

My consultant told me that as soon as my levels were normal I would feel better, but from what I have read people take months to feel better even when there levels are in range. I hope this is right and I am not just going crazy slowly!

This is such a hard illness and most of the time we look well, do you find that others dont really understand how poorly we feel?!

Hope you are feeling a bit better today
