Normal shoes!

So, for last 17 weeks I've been wearing my "air" sandals from Clarks or my trainers. There is cushioning under both these items of footwear which makes walking easier (I use that term loosely as my walking resembles a cross between a hobble and a funny walk lol!). However, I'm going to a wedding 4 weeks today......I have normal sandals and flat shoes, neither of which are "high" (after 11 years waiting for this op, I've had new knee cap and trochlea,  I'm not a high heel wearer!) but have been trying these on and they seem to make me walk differently and I feel very unsafe. Is it just a case of getting used again to this footwear........or do I need to go shopping??

I do love shoes, but have very slim feet (sods law I'm well built everywhere else, but have lovely(!) slim feet - some folk might envy me but having slim feet is nearly as bad as having fat feet. Sometimes when shopping for sandals it seems I can get both feet in one sandal lol!

I had TKR three years ago. I have always had problems with my feet since i was born and i am now 64!!

My chiropodist suggested trainers a few years ago. Basically these are the only shoes that are really comfortable for me now. Even the two pairs of shoes masde specifically for me by the local hospital do not feel as comfortable as the trainers.

Can you wear a long skirt or dress so that your shoes do not really show and stick to trainers? I do this sometimes.

Hope this is helpful and that you have a good time at the wedding

Hi pam I would buy some gorgeous glitzy sandals that way you be safer and look trendy as well . Have matching shelac or gel on your toe nails. I went into work on Thursday for a visit and EVERYONE commented on how lovely my feet were!!! I had on a long trendy skirt silver glittery sandals and an aqau col glitter on my toe nails. Hope it goes well for you.

New shoes!!! Will make you feel better, you can get some lovely glam sandals now that are quite supportive, they may cost a little more but will last, and I agree with Andrea, paint your toenails or have a pedicure, spoil yourself 👡👠💅

I totally agree with Andrea and Chris - definitely get some lovely new sandals. If you already shop in Clarks try there. They do some nice trendy sandals that offer a little bit more comfort.

Have a lovely time at the wedding! 👰💅🏻👡👡😉

Yehhhh Clarkey how ya goin on hows ur knee with working??

Hey Andrea - work is fine now. Took a couple of weeks to feel confident with the travelling but I've been back 7 weeks now and it just feels like normal again !! Are you back now? Xx

No am I hek lol I go back the 30.7.15 and phase back in but im still havin problems with stiffness and my knee cap dropping I just hope neither are permanent. Its lovely to hear from you and im glad all is going well x

Hi Pam,

I also love shoes, I dare not tell you how many pairs I have.

The worst part of having a tkr is for me, not being able to wear high heels (yet) I did ask my surgeon before he operated , if I would be able to wear heels again, his reply was, if I was comfortable wear them, when my leg was strong enough it was fine.

I am 10 months after my replacemnt now, & am wearing(only when we go out somewhere special)wedges, not too high. but just enough to make me feel a bit more dressy, & I feel very comfortable in them, no aches, pains or anything.

So I think as long as you are comfortable wear  a pair of nice sandles, flat or wedges, Clarkes do some nice ones, I'm sure you'll find some.

Hi Pam!

As a barefoot gal who only owns sandals and Crocs, I probably should plead "Don't Know", but I sensed your feeling of not feeling safe and wanted to support you on wearing shoes that helped you to feel CONFIDENT and HAPPY.

There is a perfect pair of shoes out there for you. I say, " Keep shopping!"

I'll make sure I look out for your posts.

Take care xxx
