my 18 year old daughter doubled her fluoxetine dose from 10 to 20mg 5 days ago. she has never had nosebleeds before but has had several over the last few days. they only last a few minutes and she doesnt loose much blood. she has also been having bad heartburn but apart from that she is coping well with the increase so far. i have read about bleeding and that some people get internal bleeding. i just wondered if i should be concerned by her nose bleeds. thank you in advance for any reassuring posts!

I would call the Doctors as never heard of nosebleeds. just get her checked out for reassurance.
Heartburn yes as I have got with nausea and wanting to vomit.

how is she doing otherwise? aside from the nosebleeds?
if the medication is addressing the mental disability well id talk to the doctor and see what could be causing this, however if the medication is causing this and not helping id consider another medication. there are many options and sometimes finding the right one can be trial and error. For me, Lexapro has been the best fit.
Thank you both for your replies. no more nosebleeds today. she is doing ok in herself. less symptoms than when she first went onto 10mg. she had a blood test recently due to recurrent infections this year and was found to have a vitamin d deficiency. i do wonder if this could be linked to SAD which could be why she finds this time of year difficult!
