Hi

15yrs ago I started off with one med but with time my Dr kept changing different combination & doses in order to maintain my BP. Now I'm 63 taking 4 diff med to stay with in 140/90 range. Your Dr can only suggest alternative medication.

I walk everyday for 1 hour religiously regardless of weather, this helps release daily tension.

its around 157/92 it was 190/100 when i first noticed it

You've mentioned the healthy lifestyle, but do you drink alcohol?

Salt intake can play a huge part in blood pressure, while you say you maintain a healthy diet you make no mention of how much salt is in your diet. As to blood pressure in general, many factors can cause an increase; reduced kidney function, high alcohol intake, stress (including worry over blood pressure), smoking, thickening of arteries, reduced thyroid function, simply getting older and more, and your doctor will likely have conducted blood tests to rule out some of the more common causes.

With many patients it can take quite some time, and a course of trial and error with various drugs before your doctor arrives at a suitable medicine combination that helps alleviate your blood pressure. This is normal, and a result of the numerous factors that influence our blood pressure.

For your part, all you can do is continue to maintain a healthy life style and trust that your doctor knows what he or she is doing. Unfortunately, in many cases there is nothing more a patient can do, as the causes of high blood pressure are often outside our direct control.

Hey Robert you never said a truer word that worry over bp puts it up and it can put it up signiicantly!
