Not sure what I have?!?!

I had constipation and what I though was small haemorrhoids but when applying treatment I felt inside my anus and it felt like something it totally blocking it - some BM was stuck in there. I have been having pretty regular BM's for the last week or so and of good size but I am really concerned I could have a rectal/haemorrhoid prolapse - could this be the case? I am feeling extremely anxious and will be booking a GP's appointment tomorrow but I am terrified

Hello John,

I am not a doctor, this is just the info I have found out in my own research and talking to my colorectal surgeon.

A full thickness rectal prolapse would have a tube like protrusion from the anus.

A mucosal prolapse would be circular mounds on the side, like opening a flower when using your bowel.

There is also intersusseption (sp) this is when then rectum telescopes on itself inside of you. You can only diagnose this with a defcography (sp)

Then there is internal and external hemorrhoids.

Its good that you have your GP tomorrow. I hope they can tell you what it is and put your mind at ease. What are all your symptoms?

Thanks for your reply

I had constipation which has no stopped, although I haven't gone back to my previous toilet schedule. I don't feel empty after movements but I could be overthinking it now.

The main thing which concerns me is that I can feel this mass in my rectum which feels like it is blocking my rectum, although I have passed stools of a large smooth size. I had never felt inside my rectum before so this could be normal but It is new to me so I am concerned. Is the rectum pretty much closed until you are going to poo?

If you have hemorrhoids stress makes them worse. It could be a large prolapsed one. Certainly go to the Dr.
