not sure what it is

So for the last week and a half ive had 3 times where my left leg around my calf ached and last night was the worst my leg from the knee down was almost twitching and it kept me up....the only thing that helped was moving my leg or getting up and walking. When I walked it felt fine I ended up taking some ibuprofen and fell asleep....any ideas?

I've had restless. Legs for about 40. Years but back then there wax nothing to get done even the doc didn't no what it was some times mine starts. Around 3,4 in the afternoon but lucky I've been premipixole now for 5years take one pill around 3pm and 2 at 8 ish so now doing ok see your doctor

Did it feel like I described? And what kind of pill

It starts most times around  the lower part of leg  below the muscle  and. If I didn't take my premipixole I would be up all night like you walking every where

You no that you can't even describe the ace ,you can't even rub the ace because it's inside some where

Hi joyce

restless leg syndrome can affect people in different ways mine feels like a power surge in my Lowe legs and I have to move to make it stop for a few mins I have had it badly now for 5 years I am taking pramipexole as well but I have had to increase my dose over the years and I am now using 24 hour release tablets but they run out so quick now I have to take 3 in a 24 hour period I am going to see  a neurologist in September about my dose amount I am going to ask him to refer me to a specialist hopefully they will sort out my meds which I. Can't live without now I have never had an ache in my legs though but when my tablets are wearing off I get a pain in my left arm until the next pill takes affect I hope your is not rls as I wouldn't"t wish it on my worst enem

I'm having a nightmare of a time!! I was back at doctor today! I'm now on 3m ripinirole and 100m tranzodone at night but through the day it's like electric running through legs! It goes from one leg to the other, also my arms!!

Doctor said no cure for rls I'm on ripinirole

Great to start with but need higher dose now!!

Hi Linda.  Your RLS sounds extreme. Are you on any other medications that might be making things worse?  So far I have read that allergy meds, antidepressants, antacids, calcium channel blockers, and possibly statins can aggravate RLS.  Possibly steroids also.

I know there's no cure but I also know that it can be made worse. Mine is mild and sporadic. When it acts up I take a special form of iron that quiets it for about 6 to 8 hours.  Then it's morning and gone. Sometimes I know what triggered an episode and sometimes not. But the iron always relieves it. I only take iron once an attack is underway. My iron stores are quite healthy so no point in taking daily.

Hi udon, yes I am on other meds!! Gabapentine, thyroid, and a few others!! Do u just buy iron tablets?? I'm getting blood done next week to check thyroid and colestrol , I'm on meds for both!! Smoking gets the blame for mine !

thanks for commenting !!

Linda I remember reading that one type of thyroid replacement can cause peripheral neuropathy like symptoms.   Maybe google it?  Any iron that is broken down so that it is readily absorbed is a good choice. I have to get it from a health food store or on line. I hAve to take it on an empty stomach otherwise it doesn't seem to work.  Much luck.

I would think it would show up in blood if I need iron tho I have to start taking meds on regular basis I was told, don't always do that, just take if needed so will do that and see how it goes!

Thanks again. X
