Not Your Average Sore Throat

Sore throat is the only way I can explain it, but it's not a sore throat at all.

My brother and I both have had this since we were kids. We wake up one morning, and the nasal cavities at the back/top of our throats are scratchy and have what can most accurately be described as a constant raw or burning sensation

You can't talk, eat or drink without hurting/stinging/burning.

It's like a sunburn or scrape right at the opening of the nasal cavity in the throat. Swallow sandpaper, and that's what swallowing feel like with this condition.

This lasts for a few days, accompanied by chills, fever, snot (three days of drain!).

What the heck is this called? No one I have talked to, except my brother, has ever experienced it or can even understand it.

It is NOT the tonsil-swollen, aching lower throat type of sore throat. It's a the NASAL CAVITY in my throat. What the heck is this?

No idea!  It looks like no one else has a clue either!

Just wondering how old you and your brother are, also did you live anywhere with an unusual 'environment'?  By this I mean heavy pollution in your area, or heavy use of farm chemicals if it was in the country?

Have you tried anything to alleviate it when it starts up?  If it's an infection of some kind have you taken garlic in some form?

You've given an interesting description but a few extra details may prompt someone to have an idea of what's happening.

Hi i have chronic riniosinititus and wat u say simila wat i get and garling warm water a few times a day works for me

Have you and/or your brother been checked for acid reflux or silent acid reflux?
