OK when i try to delete my notifications by touching the blue indicator it asks if i want to delete all my messages, how do i delete only the ones i have read.

At present you can’t. It is a problem that is to be fixed - but it seems fixing their mess takes a lot longer than it did to create…
If you access the posts by using the email link it should mark each one as read as you read it - maybe, I’m not convinced it is working properly either!
