Nuclear stress test

Anyone ever had a nuclear stress test?

Hi Is it an MRI scan of your heart?

Sorta it's where they inject a radiation dye into you take pictures of your heart and arteries at rest then inject.you with a medicine that will make you feel as though you excerzied and then more dye and then more pictures. But I want to know if anyone's had one and what there side effects where.

Samantha

They are trying to mae yu understand the serious implications of the test.

Personally I would really consider the reasons for these tests, the implications can be far reaching in my eyes.

Sometimes we need to consider if the negative effects outweigh the positive, when yo suffer from Anxiety.

Will these tests make you feel more a peace with your Anxiety or will you keep pushing for more and more complex tests and treatments.

If you do have a real health problem associated with your heart fair enough ?

However I am no GP or Heart Specialist, take advice and act on their recommendations

BOB

Hi again Has the dr suggested this test or is it one you are going to ask be done?

I have had them. Are you requesting one or has the dr suggested it to you?

My cardiologist wants to do it

I have a heart condition called diastolic dysfunction they want to make sure my arteries are clear because I have chest pain.

What do you experience when thwy injected the lexiscan?

Samantha

If you have a Chronic/Acute Heart Condition you take advice from your Specialist, or GP. Was reading your earlier posts you seem to be showing Anxiety, concerns. caused by your condition.

Hope all goes well

Good Luck with your tests

Sorry

If you want to find out abouth this group of tests, look on the NHS Choices page under your condition and associated tests

BOB

He should have explained to you what the test entails etc. If you can ring the nuclear scanning dept up and ask to speak to the manager or the specialist nurse who will give you full information. I think the standard procedure is to have bloods taken for kidney function for the purposes of the contrast medium/dye, they introduce into your system.

The stress test should be monitored by a cardiologist, physiologist and continuous ecg is done.

Take care.

I am unsure what was injected but you just feel some discomfort but it is not life threatening as everything is very closely monitored and controlled. Don't worry. Just get the test done I say!!

I have multiple personality disorder and really bad anxiety so yes this test is making it worst to because they injected me with a pain killer several years ago and turns out I had an allergic reaction to it and collapsed. So 2 of us are paranoid.

Samantha

All I can really say is try not to worry, sometimes I feel the same with needles, I suppose it does get better as we get older, however you are still very young. Sometimes I also wish I could send someone else to attend for me, my Wife thinks I am crazy, I will need to develop an alter ego to go into hospital in my place

BOB

HI again Samantha

Do you know the name of the drug that you had the bad reaction to?

If so please tell the dr or the physiologist and then they will avoid giving it you. If you send the dr an e mail they can look through your notes because the reaction should have been recorded and highlighted. You are not paranoid to be concerned, you are being sensible in raising an important issue. Please get in touch with the GP and tell him/her or at least con tact the hospital so it can be entered onto your notes. These things are common occurrences and the hospital will ensure you are not given that painkiller ever again.
