Numbness around incision sight

I am 5 weeks post op TRH and was wondering how long before I get the "feeling" back in my thigh/hip/buttocks area.  It's pretty wide-spread.  Some people told me some of it never goes away, but this is a fairly large area.... Anyone experiencing this??

Hello Ginny, I had some numbness  on the buttocks only for a short time, about 10 days I think but it depends on each op.

Regards

Arthur

Hi Gianni, I'm starting my 5th week and still have a numb patch round the wound. According to Google and the physio it's perfectly normal.

Sorry, auto correct Ginny!

Hi Ginny

I am nearly 4 weeks post op and I have had numbness in my operated leg in particular down the side from where they operated. I mentioned it whilst I was in hospital and since getting home to my Physio. Both said this was quite common and it should improve but it can depend on the individual. It doesn't affect my walking. But I will be mentioning to my consultant when I see him in March. Last year I tripped and fell on my side and hit my head on the brow bone. Had pain where it was bruised but also numbness in one area which took months to start to get the feeling back. So I am hoping that after major surgery even if it takes a long time the numbness will go. Hope your recovery is going well apart from the numbness?

Recovery is steady.  Stiffness in my legs at night sometimes is horrible.  learning how to deal with that.  i see my surgeon on wednesday and i have many questions for him.  he may kick me out with everything i need to ask him. (haha)  The numbness is more annoying than anything else.  It is pretty severe on my right cheek of my butt and when i sit for too long, i feel pins and needles, so, im hoping some of that goes away soon.  Good luck to you linnet and wishing for a speedy recovery to you.

Thanks Ginny, glad you are seeing the surgeon soon. Hope all goes well.

My left thigh is still a bit numb around the incision (almost three weeks) the right was numb for about a week, now feels fine. If I massage the tissues around the incision it helps,....also the foot flexes help. I try to not stay stationary for too long, even if it is simply standing up for a minute
