I have a large bunion on my left foot. My big toe is numb and tingles like frostbite at night. The bunion on the right foot is not big at all but I have the same tingling in that foot. This happens every night and feels like they are very cold
Hi Rachel. Sometimes they don't do surgery if you have a bunion that is not causing you any problems but it's worth asking your GP to send you for an orthopedic referral if you are experiencing any numbness etc. This needs further investigation. It might not need surgery but some conservative, corrective treatment like wearing a brace at night to try and straighten out the big toe and stop it from moving under the second toe etc. The Doctors will usually try different treatments before suggesting surgery but it depends on what the orthopedic specialist says when xraying your foot. Good Luck
Thanks. I was not sure if I needed a referral to podiatrist or orthopedic specialist.
If your GP suggests Podiatry that might be the best way for you personally, I'm under orthopedic maybe because I have Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis in several joints and areas of my body, inlcuding, hands and fingers, shoulders, spine, hips, knees and feet. Your GP should know the correct specialist to referr you to. I think it's just important to have further investigation to help you with a suitable course of treatment etc. Good luck.
