Numbness of finger

2 weeks ago I injured the ring finger of my dominant hand during a fall.  I felt that my finger was numb right after the fall.  Then there was a massive swelling that followed  and so I visited  a clinic . Xrays did not show a broken finger.  They send me home and told me to continue with self treatments till it gets better.

So now the swelling is far less and although there is some swelling on outside of 2nd joint.  There is  there is sever numbness on the apposing side, om interior side of finger from the joint to the tip and only one side where there a small scar that is no longer swollen.  The tip of my finger feel pins and needles, only on one side. I can move my finger but the joint feels tight.  When I touch a warm object, I feel a burning sensation.

I am not sure if it is a temporary nerve damage that will go away or not.

Need to know what to do at this point

Its too early to tell if this is temporary or not.  You may not have any broken bones but damaged nerves and ligaments can take much longer to heal. If you are in UK go to your GP and take advice.  If there is no improvement after 6 weeks you must seek professional help.

It has been 9 days since you posted, how is it feeling now? If you still get the pins & needles feelings try a Gel Toe protector.  I periodically get pain in a finger from a severed nerve years ago & will wear one of those on it.  If the pain is constant & restricting your use of the finger, I would consult a hand surgeon.
