Numbness & Tingling normal?

I had an Austin bunionectomy 5 days ago and really had not much pain at all.  I still do however have quite a bit of numbness and tingling in my toes.  I was wondering how normal this it and if it will go away.  I'm glad it has helped with the pain, but a little worried of nerve damage.

I was told not to worry. I am 3 weeks post op and still have very little feeling on top of big toe. I suppose nerves must get damaged and take time to repair.

Hope you continue relatively pain free. Don't overdo things tho. I find that if I do too much one day I suffer for it the next!!

Thanks lindalou, that's good to hear, I was hoping it's temporary.

It's normal and also good to keep the feet moving exercises referred to u by doc or PT, moving helps the blood & oxygen flow to UR feet for better healing.

ur on UR way to dancing the jig soon.

Really great support same for me. The numbness & tingling lasted a few months for me.

The more I just did simple ankel movement the quicker the tingling went away.

Hi Amy! I'm 6 days bilateral bunionectomy & both my feet feel numb & tingly -  it didn't help this morning when I dropped my crutch onto my left foot. It's more than numb!! now. You are early days like me & we have to be patient. In Bobs words (on here) PIE - patience, ice & elevation - sticking to this we should achieve a successful recovery. Happy lazy day x

Ouch, poor thing, both feet at once!  I asked my doctor about doing both at once and he said no, so I guess I get to go through this again, lol.  I'm just glad it hasn't been that bad as long as I do the PIE.  Happy lazy days to you too!

Thanks Hope, good advice.  I go to my first doctor appt tomorrow, hopefully he will tell me about the exercises then.
