Im 36 and been diagnosed with OA in my knee after a xray. I also am awaiting ACDF surgery to my cervical spine for wear and a bone spur and also awaiting physio and injections to my shoulder for wear to AC joint and inflamed bursa.
Its so odd all these things are on my right hand side and all started at the same time. I dont do sports, although with 3 kids 4,8,10 im always on the go.
find it hard to believe there isnt a link. maybe im just unlucky!
Of course there is a link! Had you had any injuries in your life or are you just unlucky to have OA? I too, have OA just about everywhere but I am alot older, I was 50when the pain got too bad to deal with. I've had bilateral TKR & about to have my thumbs fixed. Arthritis of the thumbs sounds stupid & trivial but mine has progressed to the point my thumbs are drawing up, I can't hold my palm flat & there's alot of pain & hard to use hands.
Some advice I would offer. Stay off drugs as much as possible, put off surgery as long as possible, keep moving! Those kids are gonna buy you some cartlige, educate yourself about everything OA(you'll be educating medical personnel too), Take your PT very seriously & keep it up, Best of luck & keep us posted
Hi. I know how you feel. I am suffering with my right side. I was diagnosed with severe OA in my right knee at 42, said too young to do a knee replacement. I am now 46 and had a partial knee replacement in Jan. I also have OA in my right hip and just been diagnosed with a prolapsed disc at base of back. I have arthritis in right shoulder although I did break that 9 years ago. Like me, I expect you feel old before your time. Try getting to physio if you can, as that helps. Try and put off surgery for as long as possible. X
