OB is so bad ... I need tips!

Hi everyone,

I've had herpes for a few months now I'm finally coming to peace with it and forget I even have it! ... That's until I have an OB.

I was taking daily meds but ran out of them then went away for a relaxing weekend with my family, but have suffered a severe OB and in so much pain!

The only thing that could have brought it on is that I had a cold and an argument with my boyfriend before I went away

It's painful to wee and I have lots of white thick discharge, the sore is like on the inside of the Labia and I think it's going to rub against the other side and cause a sore

I've been applying tea tree oil, took a salt bath, applied ice, a tea bag ... Nothing is making it heal!

I'm trying to not take meds so my body doesn't become depenednt on them, does anyone have any tips?

Would be really grateful as this is getting me down 😔

Sorry to hear about your unpleasant recurrence! Fyi, it is not uncommon to experience an outbreak after coming off extended daily med usage, so that could also be the reason. But if you have Type 2 and a negative bf, if I recall correctly, shouldn't you remain on suppressive meds? Anyway, I don't know what else you can do other than what you're already doing and whatever worked for you the first time! Maybe take something for pain relief as well?

Hey girl !!! Drink tons of water keep your body hydrated. If you have to pee use a squirt bottle or a cup of water to dilute the urine or you can even pee in the shower which will help. If you can go to the store true to get some vagina cream of some sort. Define try soaking in Epsom salt at least twice daily to drain and dry out the sores. Take a warm to hot shower every couple of hours as needed you will find the hotter the water the more soothing it is even getting a electrical heating pad and placing it between you legs will help with the pain. You should also physically use ice on any parts that are swollen. Try to relax and don't focus on the pain to much I know that is hard to do. Use baby soap to cleanse because it's very gentle on the skin do not touch the vaginal area sit in showerproof soap on it while water is running to help cleanse the area. To dry use the cool setting on you blow dryer to dry the area it will help with the pain as well. Buy wipes to clean yourself after very bathroom use and loose undies. Also just bye some pain relievers to help as needed . Hope this help feel better (:

My first outbreak of HSV1 was horrible.

To help ease the pain while urinating, I used a squirt bottle, similar to the one used in the haircoloring process, filled it with water and squirted it directly on me when to dilute the urine.  You can also so the same with a water bottle and any type of bottle that squirts.

All of the methods that you tried will help with relieveing the pain, but won't make it heal.  You need to see your doctor, asap.

Good Luck

A&D ointment worked so well for me .

if you keep the skin lubricated it will really work for you .

is your skin peeling or anything ? is ths outbreak more painful then your first one ?

When you get to see your dr, ask for a perscription of lidocane onintment.  That helped with the pain and the drs in the ER, gave me a 3 day supply of a narcotic for the pain, but after that was gone, I took 800mg of Ibuproten.

Hope this helped.

Yes I should probably remain on meds but me and him are both thinking about being together long term everything is going really well ATM so I can't take meds everyday for mayb the next few years? ... I wonder if the body becomes immune to the meds ... But thank you!

Thank you so much! Think I defo need to drink more water I drink quite a lot of fruit juice so I'm assuming that's what's making it hurt to pee! Hopefully water will make it a lot better xx

Yeah my skin is peeling? Like white skin? Not sure what it is? No not as painful as my first but defo nearly as bad x

What does lidocane do? Have to ask my doctor see if it will work for me! Thanks for your help xx

I used raw manuka honey on my first (and only ob, knock on wood!) A couple months ago. I applied with qtip on the sores, it helped.

Suppressive meds can be taken daily for years (acyclovir and valacyclovir only, not famciclovir). No loss of efficacy or resistance reported, except in some immunocompromised individuals. First year of infection is the most infectious (increased shedding). Might want to consider staying on the meds for at least the first year or two, but up to you both. Hope you get over the OB soon.

Lidocaine is topical pain relief. Should be able to get it without a prescription.

Oh I had no idea! I just assumed when you keep taking something your body gets used to it, I've booked in to see my doctor Tuesday to hopefully get a repeat prescription... Thank you for your help! Xx

Do you wash the honey off after? Or do you just leave it on? X

You leave it on. It's not as messy as it sounds, it's not as stocky as honey in a bottle, I would put a towel down on my bed, apply it and just leave it as long as you can. It was easy for me though, no bf so I literally stayed in bed all weekend with no underwear and a fan on to keep the area dry. Drank lots of black tea, too. There's a lot of info online about the effectiveness of honey on the speed. I hope you feel better soon!

On the sores, not speed.

I asked for suppressive meds and my doctor wouldn't give them to me. Said i had to have an ob first. Weird...

Peeling is good that means it's healing it's going to be a little more painful tho because it's raw skin every little movement can hurt

When I had my outbreak it hurt when I sat down straight down , i had to be slanted. And if I wasn't lubricated I would be in some pain also .

Can you completely wash down there and everything ?

If you have Type 2 genitally and are in a relationship with a negative partner whom you both would rather keep that way as much as possible, then suppressive therapy is certainly an option your doctor should endorse. If you are single, not sexually active and don't suffer any or many outbreaks, then it's not necessary.
