obsessive worrying...dont know what to do

Hello,

Really struggling with anxiety atm. I seem to be worrying about everything. I worry over things that arent even connected to me, but somehow my brain convinces it is. I have social anxiety alongside whatever this is, so I don't go to parties or social occasions. This obsessive worry is getting to the point where I'm scared to go out with anyone incase I say something bad and upset them, not that I would ever say anything bad, but the 'what if's' come in and then i panic all day that Ive upset someone and they wont ever want to talk to me or know me again.Does anyone else experience this? its exhausting

Yeah, it got worse in a year alongside horrible physical feelings that made me feel something wasn't quite right and had developed health anxiety which led me to going on forums obsessing with my symptoms and health.

I think I had it for a long time, just very mild, I mostly had social anxiety since school, just never knew much about anxiety and never got it treated.

My therapist calls it Generalised anxiety disorder, it is possible you've developed it from social anxiety.

I suggest you talk to a GP about what you are feeling, if they want to rule out physical causes, or you want to, I'm sure they'll allow it.

It took me years to take the courage, I think the horrible heart palpitations, feeling fatigued and other physical symptoms pushed me to see the doctor. It then took me months to take the courage to call for therapy given by my GP. Once you get help, the awkward anxiety feelings eventually go, and they understand what you are feeling so no need to worry.

I'm currently doing online CBT instead of going to a therapist and been invited to community wellbeing group, maybe you could ask the therapist or whoever will assess you about it.

Don't suffer alone, get it treated, your mental health is as important as your physical health! you're not alone.

I wish you all the best.

Hi Corrine, everything your describing is typical of depression and anxiety,if you haven't already you need to see your doctor, they will know what is the best thing for you, Therapy, medication or both, don't let yourself suffer, go and make that appointment 😊

I know how you feel <3 I'm so familiar with all kinds of what-ifs, the realistic and the irrational ones. And it really sucks, doesn't it!

Have you ever seen a therapist about this? I believe it could be very helpful for you to learn some coping skills. It can take some time to learn them and it's good to have some professional help.
