Occasional blood stripe on faeces

Hi,

Experiencing some occasional bleeding - a stripe on faeces.

Im very regular and drink a lot of water, normally passing stools 1-2 times a day very easily.

However on occasion I get a light bright red stripe down one side of the stool when I look into the toilet bowl.  It seems to happen when I'm not able to get to a toilet for an hour or 2 (in a meeting for example) and then is generally gone by the next time I go to the toilet.

I went to my GP who confirmed no piles but I think said something along the lines of seeing a break in anal skin and maybe pre-fistula or something and prescribed me some steroid/anti bacterial/anti fungural cream which I used for a fortnight went back to GP and he said repaired.

However, stripe has again occurred yesterday and I'm not convinced (I don't know why!) that the problem is on my anus but something inside that is aggregated when I have to keep stools in for longer than nessesary, has anybody got any ideas please?  Everything I read seems to suggest that normally things like this will clear up on their own but it's been over a year since it first happened but repeat only when I hold stools in?

Thanks,

David

It sounds like a tear, which I think your GP has mentioned.

If you are still worried, then you should see your GP again but maybe you should try to adjust your routine, so that you don't need to hold it in.

Thanks, think I'm going to try and go when I need to for next 4-6 weeks or so and if it's still happening after that I'll book to see my GP again.

Maybe try to adjust your diet so that you go to the loo more frequently, plenty of fluids, fibre etc you may be less likely to put it off which seems to trigger your problem. Make sure you have enough time in the mornings as that is obviously the best time to empty the bowel, if you are rushed you may not be going as you need to perhaps
